I food was cooked wrong, baked potato was not done and the salad was watery. Not the first time I've had food from here like this but the last time a eat here especially when 3 meals cost $80+

Went in for dinner, ordered drinks and meals, then sat for 1 hour while watching the restaurant emptying while being told that there’s going to be a short wait, then a few minutes more, at that point my friends and I said enough. The drinks were comp’d and the waiter apologized. So a very disappointing experience that I was looking forward to originally.

Grub Stake is the best of a Montana roadhouse! Great drinks and conversations at the bar, and the Philly Steak sandwich and chicken Ceasars salad were delicious. Right off I-15, don't drive on by!

Waited more than an hour and a half for our food that was not the quality we were expecting. Both the chicken fried steak and lasagna came from the freezer and tasted like it. The French fries might have good if they had not.of sat under a heat lamp for a half-hour. The mediocre food wasn't the worst part of our experience. When explaining our dissatisfaction to their manager, she just got pissy was rude and never appouligised for anything. Maybe she was just having a bad day,, it doesn't matter as we will not be back.

The wait for food was 2 hours. The food came out cold and undercooked. After nicely telling the manager how we felt, she was EXTREMELY rude and took one order of fries off the bill. She also added 18 percent gratuity for the worst food and service we have ever had. If 0 stars were an option, that's what they would get.

We dropped in for an early dinner. The service was great. The food was excellent. The menu is great... Dinner plates, steaks, prime rib, sandwiches, burgers and more. We're in town for a couple of days and we're planning to go back.

Tear a page out of the old West fold it up and save it after writing on it Grub Stake as a reminder to stop there for a meal from time to time. It is class Western. The food is what I expect going into pretty much all Bar and Restaurants in Montana and it has a kind of home town feeling. Lots of parking and not far from Helena at all (The State Capitol). Very close too - (if you like to fish and camp or hike) Mountains and lakes.

What a shame! So disappointed. First time in Helena MT. Excited to find a local place with what seemed like a local flavored restaurant. Ordered a drink and dinner. Waitress brought wife’s lasagna in about 15 minutes and told us it was getting cold waiting for my steak to get done. 30 minutes later I had to go ask her if and when my steak would be served. Ten minutes after that she said it would be out and offered to comp my next drink. And that the kitchen was an hour behind. We declined and they cancelled our bill. I left hungry after waiting over an hour. Wife’s lasagna wasn’t very good.
