After thinking about it I raised my review to two stars. The only reason I did is that there are one or two beers that are fine, and the taproom is a cool building. The reasons for my poor review are these:
The day before my wedding, we rented out one of their smaller rooms to meet with out of state family and friends. The taproom staff did let us know that there was a ticketed event going on that started at 7, and we'd need to be wrapped up at 6. This worked fine, as we didn't want to stay out late. What they didn't tell us would happen was this:
-They refused to serve my group drinks past 5:30
-They started to rudely kick us out at around 5:50, shouting and corralling our group towards the doors
-They then proceeded to TAKE DRINKS OUT OF OUR HANDS at 6 p.m.
I understand that it is their business and we had an agreement that our group would not stay past 6, but the way in which it was done and their poor communication of the requirements of our group was very disappointing.
Also, generally rude taproom staff on other occasions.
Fun brewery and taphouse. Good beer with plenty of beer variety. They offer live music and a variety of other activities on various nights like trivia and games.
The atmosphere and crew are always awesome! It could be a bit busy, depending on the time of day, but that's how you know you're in the right spot ?
I booked a private room at L&C 8 months ago for our wedding reception. We payed in full when we initially booked the room in January 2024. Fast forward to 6 weeks before our wedding, we are notified that there is a ticketed event on the night of my reception and if any of our guests wanted to leave the room, they would have to pay for tickets for the concert. We found out they posted the event a month earlier from when they notified me of the double booking —waiting a whole month before messaging us about the concert. On top of that, tickets are going for $35 per person. They also told us that we couldn’t go order drinks at the bar and would be limited to a singular bathroom for more than 65 people at the reception. This is extremely frustrating and stressful to have a venue booked 8 months ahead and have them change our plans 6 weeks out from our event. We printed the venue on the invites and now have to contact each person to notify them of the venue change. We instead booked with Missouri River Brewing Co. out in East Helena with significantly more ease, for far cheaper, and ended up with WAY more space. After talking with friends and family, turns out this is not an uncommon experience. They often double book and try and cancel the other event that won’t make as much money for them. In just three days, I found a family members coworker that’s had this same experience however, they couldn’t change their plans and are going through with their reservation. This is not how a business should be managed and it will eventually run a lot of customers away. To say we are disappointed is an understatement.
A brewery, unfortunately they only serve pizza, but it's good.
Everything is self-service, strange.
And see what kind of event it is beforehand, we were there on a gay pride evening.
Excellent location, great atmosphere, drinks are refreshing! Nash was our bartender, very knowledgeable on local recommendations and just overall a delight!
Highly recommend this place :)
Great place to have a fine local microbrew. Also, this is the least expensive of all the local breweries if you visit during the happy hour (noon till four PM I believe.)
Update: It's no longer as inexpensive as it was back in the day. Beer prices have risen quite a bit. On my last visit, I paid 4 to 5 dollars per beer during happy hour, not the highest price you might pay in Helena but a lot more than what it used to be before the pandemic.
Nice cozy place, good beer prices. Have a pool table and other games.
Great atmosphere and great beer
I had a great solo visit here but this place is really also ideal for large groups. They have a great amount of space with amble room for live entertainment. They had some really great beers and I’d definitely recommend going for the flight on your first visit. It’s authentically Montana and their pizza is also a crowd favorite when visiting Helena.

Mexican Lager was great
At least one of the beers on tap will be just what you wanted, and more pleasant environs are hard to imagine.
This place is the best kept secret in this state, IMHO. Are you a beer style aficionado? Balance, variety, and style specificity are their bag. Ask a server about their totally understated list of awards. Like history? The vast, multi-story taproom has nods to Helena industry as she was everywhere you look. If you don't like to be packed into a small space, you'll feel free to stretch out here. If you're looking for a party, the music is loud on live nights, trivia is raucous, and it's quiet during the day. It is in an industrial neighborhood just off of the railroad. If you're not from town, there is a traffic bottleneck here so this is a great stop while you wait for the train exchanges.
Tasty beers ? in a fantastic location
Fun venue. Most of the staff are friendly and courteous.
