I went and ate several months ago and forgot to write a review! We had the candied bacon and another app. I can't remember, then for entrees we had the new york steak and duck. It was delicious! Cute little building and great wine selection. We had dessert as well but I can't remember but was most tasty! Highly recommended

Overall impressions: Well-established setting with antique charm and cozy, inviting atmosphere. Top-notch service, thoughtful and accommodating. The food itself was underwhelming and lacked attention to detail, depth of flavor, and presentation. The food we ordered was not up to my expectation for fine dining, and barely met my expectations for restaurant dining more broadly.

What we ordered (vegetarian table of 2):
•Bruschetta - delicious! but not out-of-this world, this was the best of what we ordered but it's hard to get this wrong. 3.5/5
•Sauteed Mushrooms - came out hot, served with a couple crostini, tasty, basic recipe but enjoyable with a touch more salt. 2/5
•Brussels Sprouts - really could've benefited from more char in the oven, slightly undercooked texture and watery sauce/demi-glace w/ underdeveloped flavor, we did not finish these. 1/5

•Citrus Pecan Salad ($3 split-plate charge was waived, nice touch by the staff!!) - Delicious & acidic dressing, fresh greens, some fresh berries, was served with two canned mandarin orange slices on each plate (don't get me wrong, canned mandarin
oranges are delicious but don't exactly signal fine dining). 1.5/5

Average weighted food rating: 2/5

Total after drinks & tip came out to $80.

We would have liked to have ordered the entrees, but ultimately decided against it due to extremely limited options, none of which were striking, for plant-based eaters. The two options were a Satay with sweet potatoes (a non-existent ingredient in authentic Thai cooking), and a stereotypical, token vegetarian pasta dish.

We have dined at The Wassweiler many times, and every time has been exceptional - but this time was really something special! We were so lucky to be able to partake in a private dinner party that was won by a family member at an auction/fundraiser for the Archie Bray (with a custom, mystery menu!). Each course was so thoughtfully prepared, perfectly timed, and had amazing wine pairings. Endlessly impressed - and very happily full :)

A huge thank you to Keith and to Brandon - couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant dining experience and evening. The Wassweiler will continue to be our favorite and our instant recommendation for anyone who is looking for a perfect night out.

This was our first but certainly not our last time that we will eat here. Our server, Jess was on her second day of serving here but you couldn’t tell. She was so nice and experienced and a joy to chat with. She suggested how to have my meal prepared and I went with her suggestions and they were spot. What a great experience!!!! THANK YOU JESS!!!!

So very disappointing. I was I town for a military conference and this place came highly recommended. Beautiful setting, great service, but all 4 of our meals were absolutely tasteless… wine menu is lovely. We had the NY strip, tenderloin, and the crab cakes. Maybe it depends on who is in the grill, but we were all sad.

We lucked out in finding this absolute GEM after a visit to the HotSprings. We were able to snag a table with the luck that another table didn't show up. Upon walking in, I was already in love with the aesthetic appeal of this beautiful restaurant. We were promptly sat and offered to taste the wine feature of the night (what a GREAT idea). We ordered a bottle of this yummy wine, the bruschetta and a Caesar salad to start. The kids loved the salad so much and the bruschetta was top notch. We followed with New York Strip Steaks. The steaks were cooked to perfection and everything tasted heavenly. Our server was so sweet, kind and genuine. We left with full, happy bellies and our kids are already begging to come back. Thank you for such a beautiful experience, if I could have given you 6 stars I would have. Thanks from the Comfort Family :)

We had a 7 p.m. reservation. We were seated upon arrival. The waitress arrived immediately and was very helpful. The candied bacon appetizer was delicious, as was the bruchetta. I loved the berry salad. Out steaks were cooked perfectly. We had 2 different desserts that were perfect. Very lovely experience.

The igloo was a cute atmosphere and fun with friends. The food just wasn’t up to expectations for the price. When asked if we wanted a soup or salad they never said it was extra and we were charged $10 extra dollars per plate. We were shocked that our meals didn’t come with that side. That’s my biggest complaint along with the steak was not seasoned and it just wasn’t that good.

Nice atmosphere. Food is very lacking. We ordered 3 meals and no one was happy. My roasted carrots were still cold in the middle and completely raw on the inside. Steak was only okay at best. Zero crust formed on the steak. Like, was this steamed? How does this place get good reviews? I am boggled. I personally will never be back.

A must go to for special occasions. They have heated igloos in the winter outside that is such an amazing experience! This is an old historic home that was converted into a restaurant so the environment is very cool. The food is amazing. Recommended appetizer is the candies bacon! Wine on tap was our favorite, but they have several other choices as well. The patio in the summer is so enjoyable. They have a really cool gift shop on sight that has lots of interesting stuff. Reservations are required, highly recommend going if you are looking for somewhere special in the Helena area.

I am so disappointed with this experience. The risotto was under cooked, my medium rare steak was well done, the candied bacon was cold and burnt. We had been so looking forward to trying this food. I don’t mind paying for good food. This was unseasoned, overcooked, undercooked…all the worst things about food on each plate. So sad. We got “upgraded” to one of the igloos. Don’t bother. 30 minutes to get our first beer. The server was lovely. That was the best part of the night

This place was exceptional. I was there for a business dinner with a large group. The staff were incredible. The food was delicious. The next morning at our meeting, all of us who attended the dinner were gushing over how great our experience was. I highly recommend this place!
