We chose Jagz restaurant for our wedding dinner, and they exceeded every expectation. Despite a last-minute date change, the staff was incredibly accommodating and made everything feel seamless. With our small party, they even let us use a separate table to set up our cake and cupcakes, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was spectacular—every dish impressed, but the buffalo filet mignon was hands-down the best piece of red meat I’ve ever had in my life. Jagz made our special day even more unforgettable.
Excellent steaks and service. Beautiful atmosphere. We totally enjoyed our visit and our meal. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a nice sit down meal.
We asked the hotel for a dinner recommendation. When we asked about Jagz, one said “My favorite” the other said “Never heard anything bad”. Based on these comments, we gave it a try. The building does not do the restaurant any favors and hides a great meal with hard working staff. Once inside, we were quickly greeted and sat down. Though, consider reservations because I can see them being busy on a Fri or Sat evening. The tables were all set with black table clothes, black cloth napkins encasing silverware, water glasses and a real candle (little, I know, but much better than those fake candles). A server showed up to fill our water glasses who was soon followed by another server to take our drink order. She returned quickly with our drinks and bread. The bread was not great, but tided us over until our meal came. On the menu were high quality dinner options and some delicious specials. They also have a full bar - though we didn’t order any alcoholic drinks. Three of us had filet mignon, one had chicken fettuccine Alfredo, and I had a bison filet. Wow! The food was freshly prepared and delicious. Our steaks were all prepared to our liking (no sending back because under cooked) and they had perfect char. Also, there are several sauces to choose from to top your protein. Finally, we had some dessert - not what we normally do, but we are vacationing and loading up for the next day’s hiking plans. We shared a chocolate cheese cake and a grasshopper pie. All were made at the restaurant and very good. When the bill came, it was more than reasonable for a high quality steak restaurant - please know, we live in a big city where restaurants are expensive. Our biggest not pick is the a/c was not working well. For a restaurant of such quality food and people, the a/c should be working better. If you want a nice meal with attentive staff, give Jagz a try.
Jagz suffers from short staffing, as did most of the places I visited around the Kalispell area.
My waitress was kind and attentive, but serviced too many tables. She still made the experience positive, but was overloaded.
Food was good, but not fabulous. Architecture was probably fancy at some point in the past, but needs a facelift. What used to be a bar where diners drank while waiting for a table was closed.
Still a good meal, but could be better.
It’s a really nice place with a wonderful atmosphere. There were four of us. None of us are fussy but unfortunately, we were all disappointed with our meals. It was so not worth what we paid. Everyone else ordered steaks and enjoyed them but not the rest of their meals. My fresh cooked veggies were mushy. I had the jumbo shrimp. They were over cooked so they were rubbery. Sadly the worst meal I have ever tasted. Ate most of it anyway. To top it off the “butter”for the bread was either thinned down with oil or not real butter. It had no taste at all. The waitress was nice but inattentive. Sorry for the bad review but that’s the way it was.
Really tasty dishes with warm service
Got food to go ! Excellent food & fast turn around !
Interesting place, hours are always off and inaccurate online, menu online is not accessible nor updated.
We have been to Jagz many times over the years. The last 2 times have been dismal. The server was great even there was only one in the entire restaurant (and a hostess helping out).......The quality of meat has declined substantially over the last couple of years......Both our ribeyes were NOT medium rare but medium +......My husband returned his. I have never seen him return a steak in 35 years of marriage.....It was my birthday and I was hungry so I begrudgingly ate mine overcooked and all. Veggies were mushy and bread rolls were marginal...........So disappointed.....Will not return any longer.........Mercantile is the go to steak house and quality is exceptional.......We returned to Jagz out of loyalty but no more..........What a shame.
Have taken time to write this because so disappointed. We have been loyal customer of Jagz all the way back to when they were Black Angus on Hwy 2. Took my family there in December and this is what we were served. Clams bland lacking garlic & white wine, Caeser salad watery little or no dressing, angel hair pasta over cooked and dish can out looking like slop, Ribeye steak under seasoned ordered A1, duck overcooked sauce bland lacking rich red wine sauce known for, stuffed backed with works came with nothing but a 1/4 cup of sour cream, garlic mashed not mashed used forks to cut potatoes, cold vegetables, hamburger ordered medium came out well done. Meals ordered - 2 duck, one hamburger, two pasta, one steak. Owner was serving had to ask for silverware after appetizers, water refills, butter for bread. Overall terrible experience. sad that Jeff and Amy retired had definitely gone downhill.

Was not upscale lol. I asked for a cocktail but they only serve beer and wine. Food was served on clear plates my mom used in the late 90’s.

We had the pleasure of dining at Jagz recently, and I must say, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The ambiance is fantastic—warm and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left me completely satisfied. Every dish was flavorful.
What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. To my surprise, they even gave me a complimentary piece of cake (big piece) for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful and sweet gesture.
I highly recommend Jagz for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience. I'll definitely be back!
