We absolutely loved our stop at Tru North Café! From the moment we walked in, the vibes were immaculate + welcoming. James, the owner, is genuinely warm and kind, and you can feel how much heart and intention went into creating this space.

The staff was friendly, the food was delicious + it truly felt like eating a home-cooked meal at a friend’s house. Cozy, comforting + thoughtful in all the right ways. The espresso deserves a special shoutout. It was so flavorful that my wife went back for a second cup!

We also really appreciated the variety of seating options, which made the space feel accessible and inviting for everyone. This place radiates care, community + good energy. If you’re in Livingston, Tru North is an absolute must!

Cody and James were the ones running the floor when we stopped in, everyone was so kind, and the energy was super upbeat!! Definitely a wonderful spot for amazing coffee and delicious foods. Local through and through, from Yellowstone coffee beans for sale to the art on the walls! 12/10 💓

Tru North has a great menu. The food was amazing and the purple rain specialty drink hit the spot. The young man behind the counter took his time getting to hear our story of why we was there too. Very good experience here.

We went on a Saturday morning around 10am and it was packed but we still snagged a table pretty fast. The wait was about 30 min, but was well worth it when our food arrived. We ordered the country scramble with gravy that literally tasted like you came home for Christmas and everything was right in the world again.

The staff were all working hard, with smiles on their faces and kind words for everyone. Highly recommend!

I Stopped in at Tru North Café recently, and while the place itself has potential, the experience left a lot to be desired. When I first walked in, the man behind the counter (maybe the owner?) was telling a couple of customers to turn off a short video on their phone. It honestly made a worse scene than the video itself and set an uncomfortable tone right away.

When I ordered, he seemed very intent on getting me to try one of the pricier specialty drinks. I understand upselling, but there’s definitely a better way to do it. When I just went with a simple hot chocolate, he seemed a bit annoyed — not exactly the warm, welcoming vibe you hope for at a local cafĂ©.

I also asked if it was okay to study there, mostly out of politeness and because I’d just seen him get upset with someone else. I didn’t want to be the next person to cause an issue — which, frankly, is not how a customer should feel. He said I could stay, but only if it didn’t get busy, and directed me to a small table in the corner that was dirty (and never cleaned after he told me to sit there). I ended up choosing a different seat because, after all, I was a paying customer.

The cinnamon roll was genuinely delicious, and the hot chocolate was fine, but the service attitude really overshadowed the quality of the food. After reading other reviews, it seems like this kind of experience isn’t uncommon, which is a shame because the cafĂ© itself has potential to be something special.
