Found this when all the other sushi options in Missoula were closed. Had the chicken Katsu, which was not good. Ordered some sushi to go with it which was surprisingly amazing. Service was unbelievably slow. But the sushi was quite good.

Staff was friendly, professional, and quick. Sushi was fantastic, and we tried stuff all over the menu. We got two specialty rolls and two regular rolls, two glasses of wine for $63 before tip (March 2024). You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been here a handful of times and never been super impressed with the sushi, but the staff are friendly and the place is clean. It’s “good for Missoula”. Their lunch special is $11 and a great deal.

Food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing! We had the edamame, ahi crisps and Alaska role and were greatly satisfied with each. The ahi crisps in particular were a great hit. The host was adaptable and the waiter was timely, polite and attentive. The flavor of everything was amazing! Considering that Montana is a landlocked state, the sushi was quite impressive. Overall, I will certainly visit this place again and recommend it to others.

We arrived at 5:30pm, ordered at 5:40 and didn’t get our entrées until 6:40. Extremely slow so don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. We had to ask multiple times to just get water. Sushi rolls were average but expensive considering they don’t come with sauce drizzles and sushi roll toppings like other restaurants do.

Sushi Hana has been a long time favorite of mine, and the expanded menu when Yuriko took over the business has only made it shine more in my mind. I am always impressed to see her working hard alongside the other employees to create delicious food and a welcoming environment for customers. A meal here always fills the cracks in my soul.In addition to some serious sushi choices, there are lots of options for those who cannot eat fish—tasty options, to boot! Great small plates, delicious straightforward ramens (with the most delightful char siu I’ve had), a solid udon and curry, and the most freakin fantastic deliciously crispy sesame chicken like you’ve never had before!! Seriously, it’s addictive. I also highly recommend the tempeh maki from the vegetarian sushi selection. For desserts, the cherry blossom ice cream has a light flavor to it, specially made by Big Dipper for the restaurant using authentic pickled sakura from Japan; the Big Dipper green tea ice cream is also hard to go wrong with, such a smooth delightful taste and texture. My other (absolute favorite) dessert is the melt in your mouth rare cheesecake, paired with a uniquely flavorful berry yuzu sauce that will have you exclaiming “oishii~” in no time.I have never had a fish contamination issue with this restaurant (which would make me very sick), but be aware that the tiny tobiko (fish eggs) do like to stick to everything and may appear on a vegetarian sushi if tobiko was used recently for a different or shared order—a perennial occurrence with sushi prep anywhere I’ve been. Fortunately they’re bright and easy to pick off if you are worried about a potential reaction! You may also request specifically that the chefs be cautious of an allergen for you, and I am confident your request would be honored. If you’ve hesitated to visit this restaurant just because you don’t like sushi or fish, I encourage you to stop by and give it a try because there really is so much more on their menu than the namesake sushi!Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from if you can’t eat fish or are eating vegetarian—and they’re tasty options too, not just plain cucumber or carrot with rice!

The service and ambiance at the restaurant is generally good. I've eaten there regularly for at least a decade. I think the food quality is starting to fall off. I've been served luke warm miso soup and ramen in a dashi broth completely lacking in flavor. I've gotten snow peas that haven't been stemmed and cucumbers that are past their prime. I expect a Japanese restaurant to be excellent at these details. The sushi itself still seems reliable and the restaurant is often a calm, quiet place to be. The sesame chicken still seems perfectly fried. It's been a while since I've had the agedashi tofu but I hope that would still be good.

Good location. Good food. Nice service. We've been there in dinner time so I would recommend booking the table first if you don't want to wait.

Our waitress was so passive aggressive for seemingly no reason? We had fairly simple orders with no edits or substitutions beyond one of my friends asking for no peas. She forgot one of our orders, didn't bring the broth one of the dishes came with, and ignored us when we asked for the check split two ways. The food was alright, but no where near what it used to be. My friend ordered hot ramen and she ended up with bland, lukewarm noodles. I used to really like this place, but I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon.

Did a carry out and waited an hour after they said it would be ready. Save yourself the pain and get pizza instead.
