I love taco del sol. I'd go there all the time IF I could find one open. Ever since the pandemic they are closed more than open. The excuse of not finding employees no longer works because no one else has that problem anymore. Today we took a risk and stopped by. It's 11:46. They are supposed to open at 11:30 but they are locked up, no lights, chairs on tables. I don't know how they stay in business when they are never open.

The food was not very good. We ordered a nacho bowl…. Very disappointing; Cold beans, cold shredded cheese, brown guacamole. Also got a bean and cheese burrito; again beans cold and rice was under cooked. The food was definitely not worth the $25 we spent.

I would give this place no stars if I could. Stopped in today for the very first time (I’m new to the area), noticing the lack of directional signage, I went to the counter for service. Instead of being greeted, I was yelled at (in a mostly empty restaurant) that I needed to start on the opposite side of the counter and the second employee on duty piped up with “yeah, that’s how we do it here!” I apologized and let them know I’d never been in before. Upon scanning my menu options, I noticed that again, the signage is almost nowhere to be found, then realized that it’s taped to the TOP of the counter, I am 5’6” and couldn’t hardly see over the counter to see the options, I can’t imagine anyone shorter than me being able to see. Every question I asked the employees, was met with an eye roll and annoyed attitude. After paying nearly $30 for two soggy, cold burritos and being treated like a nuisance by the staff- we will not be back.

Excellent place for a burrito. Love the Cuban and the different salsas.
I’ve been going to Taco del Sol since 2009. Love the burritos, especially the 14” regular fish burrito with pinto, gorgonzola, cabbage, jalapeños, and the white sauce. It’s a great, local burrito joint with good food and a great vibe. That being said, you can tell that the post-pandemic changes in Missoula have impacted this place: reduced hours and price increases that, in my opinion, seem to have outpaced CPI (owing to labor shortage?) I hope people still get their burritos here and not from the national, corporate burrito chains that have arrived on reserve street. This place is wonderful, has a great menu, and always friendly people. I could eat here every day and would be super happy about it!
