Went for lunch. Very few people there but extremely slow service. Condiments on the table showed the results of being outside in the sun. Chicken salad was horrible and sandwich oozed with it.. Not worth our money.
The Trough not only has a great regular menu, but there hasn't been a Sunday morning special that hasn't been amazing. The staff is beyond friendly and always ready with a smile. We have been for Tuesday Trivia and had one of the best Pizzas, the Prairie Fire, it was amazing and I hope it comes back soon. Honestly we haven't had a bad experience, whether it was a dinner on the patio or a pizza on a rainy Spring evening. The Sunday breakfast has become a favorite but make sure you get there early, the secret is getting out and they often fill up by 9:30. Oh and don't forget to buy some of the strawberry jam, it is amazing.
I got the eggs Benedict, now I'll admit I'm a Benedict snob, that being said I've never tasted a "homemade" hollindaise sauce that had not even a hint of lemon. It tasted like a bechamel sauce. The egg was cooked to perfection but I could taste the metal iron from the pan. Not horrible but I only ate half. My daughter had pancakes and said they were fine. As a side note, the waiter was proficient but I don't think he smiled even once. Over all, it was ok but not memorable.

The food was dry and tasted like a frozen entre that had been reheated.

The burger tasted pre-made. The club was good, the coffee was perfect, and the service was good.

We got our free turkey for Thanksgiving and we thank them so much. We did this two years ago we thank again thank you so much. Now we have a great Thanksgiving.
The team working today went above and beyond to be conscious of a food allergy. The food is delicious, and the service will keep us coming back. Thanks to the ladies specifically on shift today—we will be back!

I expected better from your restaurant. Every plate that leaves your kitchen is supposed to represent your establishment, and what I received was far from acceptable. If hamburgers are one of your main dishes, then your cooks need to learn how to make them properly. The one I was served was steamed, rubbery, and completely lacking in seasoning. Salt and pepper are basic, yet it seems they were forgotten.
On top of that, my mushroom Swiss burger came with exactly three sad little mushrooms. When I asked for more, I was given what looked and tasted like canned mushrooms. Seriously? It’s not difficult to sauté fresh mushrooms, and it makes a world of difference.
You might want to revisit your kitchen practices and consider reworking the menu if this is the best you can do. This was a really disappointing first experience, and I can’t imagine recommending your place to anyone unless things change.

I love the atmosphere and old town appearances. I have been going there for a few years. Lately they haven't been able to get my to go orders right. I'm not going into details but between young employees and I'm told a temp cook. It's frustrating. I still like it .

No, no, no. Where to start. I’ll start with the ending:Don’t go-Overcooked, undercooked, stale & WAY over priced-Staff was overworked, some were not pleasant, they were audibly heard bad mouthing customers, each other etc.Thank goodness for good coffee, good mimosas & lovely, yet disappointed guest.A “trough” is a good adjective for this diner.

Unfortunately my experience at the trough was absolutely less than satisfactory. After working in the service industry and in restaurants I do understand how awful and overwhelming Sunday brunch crowd can be as a staff member at a breakfast restaurant, but the absolute lack of care and blatant rudeness from our waitress was abhorrent. Now separately to the bad service the food was an entirely different level of bad. If I could give 0 stars I would, I ordered their “veggie browns” I was given a skillet of about six chunks of steamed mushy potato paired with an abundance of crunchy undercooked vegetables (aside from the broccoli which was also mushy) that was entirely inedible aside from the egg which was cooked correctly. I did eat the egg and toast but everything else from my meal was a waste. Not to mention it was 13 dollars for the gross concoction. I would have said something to our waitress in regard to the quality of the food but she was mean and scary so I didn’t feel like I could. All in all I would avoid eating here at all cost, save your pocket book, tastebuds, and time of day and go somewhere else.
