We stayed at Sage Lodge for 3 nights and there aren't a lot of dining options other than this restaurant and Chico Hot Springs. The food and cocktails are good at Sage (although the local Old Fashioned cocktail is $25). My wife had the Steelhead and raved about it. I had a Bison Ragu on Pappardelle and it too was excellent. Wine prices and selection are just okay. My biggest issue is service. They simply don't train staff on how to wait tables. A few examples: not knowing what is on the plate; not properly pouring wine (huge pours); putting the cork back in our bottle after pouring the first glass; forgetting to top up our wine. I get it. All first world problems, but this place cost >$1000 per night and entrees are $45-50. Training isn't hard to do even if hiring is.
Bison Bolognese was delicious! We at at the bar and decided to split the meal since we weren't that hungry. When the time came to pay, bartender took my card and I mentioned that we were going to split the cost. He abruptly took my card, turned around to cash register, and said, “I don't split bills.”I was embarrassed at this response and the people sitting on both sides of us both said... “did he really just say that?” This truly put a damper on the evening and I couldn't get out if there fast enough.
We had an outstanding dinner with friends and cat wait to return. the food was excellent and our server was wonderful! The view was spectacular. We sat outside, even though the weather was rainy, there were heaters and we were under a nice overhang. What a gem the Fireside Room is!!
At twilight, we chose to dine outdoors, and we're glad we did. Beautiful! Romantic! Serene! A calm punctuated only by a few deer wandering by, appearing casual, if nonplused. Wonderful food, reasonably priced, and professionally served. It was apparent that this facility is expertly managed, with careful attention to detail and guest satisfaction. We loved it! A bit out of the way, but the drive, itself, is scenic, and the journey transforms the guests to a wonder world of charm and beauty -- with a great menu!
This was my second time at the Fireside Grill and maybe my last. I took five friends to the grill for dinner and was embarrassed by the quality of the food. Our server was good but two of our meals were sent back because they were cold on arrival. Ultimately two of the six meals were removed from our bill because they could not be eaten. The kitchen, visible from the dinning area, was confused and lost several tickets during our visit. We watched as the chef took one of our meals and put it back on the grill bare handed. This restaurant is billed as an upper level dining experience, it is not... I was embarrassed by my recommendation to my party and will be taking them to the Montana Rib & Chop House next time. The view is not as good, but at least we can eat the food.
We have had delightful meals at Sage a number of times but last night was very disappointing. Our waiter was very pleasant and she was trying but they are completely understaffed. Took for ever to get our drinks and then food. Chicken was black and way overcooked. I have enjoyed it in the past but Sage needs some real help
We dined here three nights while staying at a nearby AirB&B. The atmosphere and views from the outdoor patio are incredible, you will dine while watching deer roam in the distance with the sun setting over the 360 view of mountains. Our meals were great and our servers were very friendly and professional. On our last night, the food did not meet our expectations, compared to the previous two nights, and our server swapped out the meals and even gave us a discount. Our kids loved playing corn hole and ring toss while waiting for our food to arrive, and it was so nice to sit outside and watch them play. Thank you for the incredible memories!
Everything thing was Top notch.food excellent , service excellent. We where given a free desert because we where celebrating 40th wedding anniversary. Great place, only negative thing i could say is you better have a fat wallet when you go!
Steven was excellent! We were lucky enough to have him wait on us throughout the day-us ladies headed to the spa after a lovely breakfast, and the gentleman ventured over to check out the fishing situation at the Lodge pond. Then we all met back on the veranda for a light lunch where we again had top notch service from Steven. The cocktails were fabulous, as were the BBQ wings and smoked trout grazing board. 15/10 would recommend. We hope to be back again the next time everyone is in town!
The views and setting are spectacular, wish I could say the same about the food and service. Our waitress knew nothing about the offerings on the newly released menu and had zero enthusiasm about anything. It was obvious she did not want to be bothered with questions. The food was mediocre, nothing special, and quite pricey.

It took over an hour to get breakfast served even though we had a reservation. Poached eggs were hard inside on my wife's breakfast and there was a long hair in my breakfast! Very little Hollandaise sauce on my wife's breakfast and the sausage gravy was too salty. The Lodge did comp my wife's breakfast.
We visited Sage Lodge for Brunch on Mother's Day. My wife's mom was in town visiting, and we wanted to do something special and memorable with her. The experience could not have been better. We sat in the porch and enjoyed the incredible views, some brief pond fishing with a loaner rod and fly (caught a big one!), and enjoyed some really great food in a very relaxing well thought out atmosphere ! It was an awesome experience!
Best customer service, gorgeous views, great food. We showed up with 3 kids under 6 and they went above and beyond with toys and crayons and plates of fruit. So kind. We will absolutely return!
We visited on Easter Sunday at 10:00, just an hour before the Easter Egg Hunt. Lots of kids, lots of noise, but not oppressive. We were seated promptly and our server was attentive. This was a buffet. Food was good quality and quantity. Seated to look directly over the pond. It was a wonderful brunch buffet. Well worth the hour drive to get to the Paradise Valley. In fact, the drive down Rte. 89 was a highlight. It had snowed overnight so we opted not to drive the 15 or so miles to the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
Modern, sleek space with beautiful views. Service was slow. Our server Tara was working hard and highly professional, but seemed to have too many tables to cover. Took 40 minutes to get drinks, which were comp'd. Mushroom tempura appetizer and grilled Caesar salad were delicious. Salmon and wagyu entrees were meh, not much flavor.
