Simple, rustic, classic local Saloon. The food comes from the Virginia City Cafe attached to the bar. Good burgers and sandwiches. The bar offers a wide selection of Montana drafts, as well as almost anything else in the liquor department. They have a pool table, as well as a few slot machines.Parking: During peak tourism times, parking could be difficult, but there is a free lot up the street. And the town is just 4 blocks long!Kid-friendliness: Not really a kid friendly place. Tall chairs and tables, and no games or activities for them.

I went in to get a drink. Sat at the bar with my SERVICE DOG and was told I can’t be in there. I told him it’s a service dog and he said I have to sit by the door. That is completely illegal. I will not ever spend money in this place. I left. Will not be back.

Love the atmosphere but feel like it’s not the friendliest place for outsiders but how do they know for sure where you’re from as we’re born and raised in Montana

Was treated very well here! Learned about the bar that was moved from Butte to this location back in 1975. Fun vibe!

Amazing bartender super nice. The bale of hay saloon has a far worse atmosphere. I choose the pioneer bar every time it's far better.Kid-friendliness: Soda and candy for the kids

Great local bar that stays open later than every other place in town! Our server, “Kack” was wonderful, personable and attentive! We met many of the locals there! Come in for a few brewskies after the Folley’s show, or the Ghost Tour! You will be glad you did!

This is the local place to be! The ambience is killer if you're looking for the local small town Montana feel. Billiards, pool hall, jukebox, and locals. This is the place to be. Would highly recommend it if you're in Virginia city

Best bar in town!

I’d rather hangout at the landfill, the bartender has serious personal issues and should really watch her tone. All in all just go to Ennis and spend your money it’s not a broke back mountain knockoff.
Blonde bar tender was more than rude! Will not ever go there again!

This place doesn't like outsiders.every time we pull up on the bikes n come in we get scowled n hated.Good place to get into a good fight ..That's it. Chics bar in Alder is super friendly n not far away . Only stop worth while.

The Pioneer Bar in Virginia City, MT epitomizes what a western bar should be. It’s history is wonderful and it’s a great place to meet with friends.
