I had their dinner special, 20oz Ribeye; it was cooked precisely to order (high rare/low mid rare), and it was one of the best steaks I've had (top 3).
The atmosphere is rustic, 1800s feel, and the service was great!

I find it difficult to review this restaurant without the use of several swear words that violate the terms and conditions of leaving reviews on Google. (All positive exclamation embellishments, make no mistake.)

‘Twas fate that brought my family to the Wells Fargo restaurant in Virginia City Montana on August 7th at 6pm. We came from Bozeman on a whim, riding upon the memory of a recommendation from the owners, whom my husband happened to sit next to on a plane two years ago. (FATE.)

The special was a 20 oz prime ribeye and it tempted three of our party to order it. At the end of our meal everyone present wished they possessed the ability to turn back time, as it was the best steak any of us could remember eating in Montana.

I had the lasagna, which was delicious, but the three bites of prime ribeye I seduced from my partner’s plate were the highlight of the meal.

I will return for the steak and implore others to do the same.

The broccolini was also very good.

Not going to talk about our awesome waitress or the food which was excellent. Like literally better than that place in Manhattan :). I'm going to talk about the big room minimum extortion policy. This place is in the middle of nowhere. Sure it's a famous western town but there isn't a line around the block to get in this place. So you get the big room and then, they need to make a minimum: that's their mistake. A draconian policy. Useless. Applebee's bureaucracy. Tourist gouging. (My family has been in the valley since 1922) Our group were small spenders but that shouldn't have been punishable. LOL.

It breaks my heart to even post this review because Iove Virgina City. But I am so upset by this experience I feel like I need to. I spent more money on a steak here than I would at home. And it was the most disgusting and disappointing steak I have ever had. Our waitress was so rude i didnt feel like talking to her more than i had to. Paid 116 dollars for a dinner that was mediocre at best. Initially we were going to have pizza next door but my husband suprised me with going for a steak. I wish now we would have had pizza.

OMG!! Two of the best cuts of meat prepared for us in Madison County and we’ve been here for 13+yesrs! Wonderful hostess, wait staff and servers! Will definitely be back!

Besides the history, had the best steak I've ever had in my long life! Drinks were delicious and our server, Lilli, was the best. I'd highly suggest dining here. Don't think you'll be disappointed.

They added lasagna to the menu this summer and I just had to try it!! It Was beyond awesome and tasty and I will continue to go back. Jeremy who tends the bar area is the best drink maker in town and is awesome!! The over all experience here is always great and I 100% recommend!

The the absolute best $50 strip steak I have ever tasted - and I’m old. Plus the glass of wine I had “Bonanza, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, CA” - the combination steak and wine - Priceless.

Great service and Excellent food, will definitely be back!

Delicious food and cocktails

Ate there tonight (7/16/24)... EXCELLENT food!!!! Steak was to die for! Great dessert too. Staff very friendly and attentive. Well worth making reservations (we did) and enjoying a meal.
