You know this was a neat place, sat upstairs in a very comfy couch type setting, neat concept where you can order food on your phone, bartender came over when we first came in and tidied up and apologized that it was a bit messy, I did not think so. Ordered and he brought drinks with a very caring demeanour, food came so fast and was just great pub food and reasonably priced……..only reason for 4 star atmosphere is parts of the establishment is not as cozy! lol

I stopped by BlackStar in Whitefish for lunch and really enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and chicken fingers with fries — everything was delicious and came in generous portions. The team was incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole visit feel welcoming.
One thing that caught me a little off guard was the QR code ordering system. You order and pay from your phone before receiving any service, and it automatically prompts you to leave a 20% tip upfront. I absolutely believe in tipping for great service, but it felt a bit unusual to be asked before any interaction. That said, the staff did bring out the food quickly and were attentive when needed, so perhaps it’s just part of their streamlined lunch setup — dinner service might work differently.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend BlackStar for its food, friendly atmosphere, and generous portions. Just know the ordering process is a bit different than traditional table service.

Blackstar Brewpub was the perfect place for our lunch! The atmosphere is very chill and friendly. The food and brews--amazing!! The staff was just so friendly and helpful. It’s a self serve restaurant that expects tips. The only thing they do is deliver the food to the table. You get your own drinks and everything. Not impressed in the slightest. Burgers come with zero sides, even fries are extra. Worst brewery I’ve been to.

The rooftop was cool, that was the only thing we liked. We ordered through the toast app and never actually spoke to an employee, yet we tipped 15% because we had to choose it when we ordered. Our food took an hour to arrive and it was mediocre at best. Random Tuesday night in August, not even a weekend.

If I could give it six stars, I would. The food was absolutely incredible, and I don’t say that often about restaurants. The bacon smash burger is honestly the best burger I’ve ever had. The Japanese chicken sandwich is 10/10, and the pizza is top notch. Great atmosphere and music, too. Would 100% refer my best friends to this place.
