We are in town for a few days and I chose Tupelo Grille because of their limited menu—I knew they would do it well, and they did. My husband got the jambalaya and I had the N.Y. strip. Both were delicious. The atmosphere was great (not too loud) and our server was very attentive. We had the biscuits as an appetizer and also the bratwurst. Both were excellent. Large portions, friendly folks. You won’t go wrong here. PS I’m from GA, so I know about southern food. This is legit.

Top notch Southern comfort food. Proper Jazz bar with high end mixologists. Bring back Creole Dumplings.

Tupelo Grille sets expectations the moment you step inside. Brick walls, a tight, confidence-forward menu, and a bar that leans hard into moody cigar-lounge energy. Think modern, edgy, downtown speakeasy vibes dropped into Whitefish. The concept is clear: do a few things, do them well, no distractions.
We began with biscuits, Brussels sprouts, and scallops. The biscuits were the undeniable win of the night, rich, buttery, and so good we ordered a second round without hesitation. The Brussels sprouts and sliders landed squarely in acceptable territory, fine but forgettable. The scallops, however, missed the mark. They arrived cold, the parsnip “purée” was more chunky mash than silk, and the pineapple gastrique listed on the menu seemed to have gone missing entirely.
Hoping the mains would recalibrate the experience, we moved on to a Caesar and the bison entrée. Unfortunately, another misstep followed. I ordered the bison but was served a New York strip instead. I had already taken a bite before realizing it and chose not to send it back, but it set the tone. The sauce lacked character, and the crispy fried root vegetable strips felt more like a garnish looking for a purpose than a proper starch. They read as an afterthought rather than a thoughtful component of the dish.
Service mirrored the food experience. Our server was friendly and personable, but disappeared for long stretches, making the evening feel a bit disjointed, especially given the number of small issues that piled up.
Tupelo Grille clearly has identity and ambition, and the biscuits alone show what the kitchen is capable of when things align. But between execution issues, missing elements, and service gaps, the experience didn’t live up to its promise. With sharper attention to detail and tighter consistency, this could easily become a standout. For now, it feels like a place still finding its footing.

I got food poisoning here :( this place was recommended by so many people so it was super disappointing. And it was in the beginning of the trip! Service was good but I would beware of eating any seafood here if you go.

I love the lighting, I personally tried the catfish and enjoyed it, The Bison was also pretty good. But the main thing I enjoyed was the Banana Pudding, it was honestly one of the best things I've eaten. It was gone way too quickly. And the servers were polite and on top of things.

I reserved a table for 6:45pm on Saturday night, it was available and I got a confirmation back confirming the reservation for 6:45. Fast forward to 5:15 a hour and a half before the reservation I get an email saying they changed my reservation to 6:15. No phone call or text from Tupelo which I would expect just a email. I was lucky to see the email much less to be able to change our plans and leave early for Whitefish. The food and service were great but my experience was their registration process needs some attention. Hope this improves!
Spent a great deal for dinner and drinks. Waitress was great and tipped her well. Possibly found a rubber band in the shrimp and grits. The other thing was that I ordered a martini and the glass was half full. I was not expecting to the brim, but definitely closer to the top than the bottom. Waitress took a drink away too soon before my friend was finished with it too. These are just some comments. Take it or leave it. Food was good but smaller portions besides the catfish was massive which was a tad salty but still decent. The bread pudding we got to go which was great with the instructions on how to heat it up.

Food was surprisingly delicious. We got the elk meatloaf, shrimp and grits, house made biscuits and for dessert, banana cream pudding. Everything was great and tasted fresh and flavorful! I also love seeing a dessert that’s not caramel or chocolate on the menu.

The best meatloaf (elk) I’ve had in my life. The buffalos treres (shoulder) was perfectly cooked. Amazing place to spend our anniversary. Will be back!

We were here 5 years ago, had a great meal then wanted to come back. Started out with the waitress doing an amazing job. Had the biscuits, they were amazing! We ordered the house salad, looked great, but then I took a bite! Tasted like vinegar had way to much. Could not eat but a few bites before I was overwhelmed with the vinegar. Also, ordered the Chicken sliders again looked great, should of said very spicy on the menu because the were to spicy eat. You may say I can't handle spicy foods but I usually have 4 of 5 spicy level. So it was just not enjoyable dinner.

We dined there with dear friends to celebrate a birthday. Service was fabulous as was the food. We weren't rushed. Are, drank and gabbed for over two hours. Love that place.
The food was delicous. The elk meatloaf is a must try. The service was so slow and the restaurant was not that busy. Food great, service needs help.
Stephanie our server was the best server we have ever had. The food was so bomb, did not dissapoint!
