Great place for Asian food, great flavor, only the portions are slightly small, variety of drinks and preparations and with a live group at night

We noted a swarm of positive reviews over several years before attending.

The place was hard to find, located in the back of a Japanese restaurant, and most tables were reserved.

Learning points:

1. The music (jazz on the night of our visit) was outrageously loud, to the point of glasses and bottles shaking at the bar.
2. The replacement of bourbon with a vastly more expensive imported whiskey was not made clear for all drinks purchased. The difference in price per cocktail was not adjusted, with shots of the replacement whiskey just added on. 2 shots ended up costing 420 pesos…!
3. Additionally, the servers mixed up two tables’ bills, leading to the need for two transactions.

The cocktails were nice and well made. It’s worth attending, but be sure to clarify the pricing and what you are actually getting.

Saw the positive reviews and went on a mission to find this place one Friday night in May. Walked past a Japanese restaurant in an alley way and was met with a dead end. I hear voices behind me ushering me into the restaurant. I said if they knew of a jazz bar around here. Yes they said, but it’s funk tonight and they ushered me down the stairs.
You are greeted to the sight of a cool as a cucumber looking small bar with crowded tables and a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Locals and out of towners mixed together in anticipation of the music about to be played.
The service was discreet yet incredibly efficient. There is no cover charge and cocktails are about £7-£8 each and oh what cocktails they are. Many are based around Sake and they have there own takes on an old fashioned, Manhattans etc but you can order the classics (they are a bit cheaper too). Watching the mixologists at work is a thing of beauty.
The music was as good as the drinks. Initially a three piece (sax, guitar and drums) joined later by a bassist for the last number. It was funk but drifted into a the avant garde on occasion. The second song sounded like Primus which in my book is no bad thing.
Loved it, loved it, loved it.
Go.

Very cozy place with romantic atmosphere, perfect for a date or a night out with friends. They have special events depending on the day. We enjoyed live jazz music and was amazing. If you’re not into alcohol the Amai mocktail is a must ?FYI the entrance is a bit hidden ??

My first speak easy bar ever and I really enjoyed it. A live band was playing and it wasn't too crowded, also they make amazing cocktails!

The food is VERY rich. We ordered a bit of everything to share and it was really worth it because everything they serve is very tasty. The only thing we didn't love was that the place is very small and it gets quite crowded on Thursdays, so it's hard to get through or be well accommodated. It was also a bit hot even though they had the air maxed out. But hey, good atmosphere to go listen to music because it's kind of complicated to talk.
