We’ve been hearing so much about “Bao Sundays” at Mestixa Tulum and just couldn’t resist going there! Such a fantastic experience ~ the cocktails and food especially the balanced flavors were both awesome. Service extremely attentive. We’re now eagerly waiting for “Bao Sundays” to start in Mestixa Playa del Carmen, which is actually one of our favorite restaurants ?? Ps: Don’t miss the handwritten note from the manager ?

location is easy to find and to park. Decoration is ok, there are 2 nice paintings of dragons on the walls; food was original but not fantastic and portions rather small, you won't have enough with one plate, so count around 800 pesos for a complete meal. Service was nice, but music very loud (they reduced the level when we asked) as well as the room, so that it was rather loudy and not very comfortable.

I’ve been a fan of Mestixa, having visited the Tulum branch whenever I was there. So I was delighted to hear they were setting up a branch in Playa Del Carmen as well. The food is awesome. The chef really knows their tastebuds, and every mouthful I’ve eaten is a delicious blend of flavors that complement each other so well. It’s a blend of Mexican and Asian food, served in a ‘smaller plate’ style. Perfect for sharing or going out with friends! My favorite dishes are the shrimp tempura, which is light and served in a lettuce leaf with an incredible soy, ginger and garlic glaze! Yum! Also the pork tostadas are amazing, but I could rave about every dish off the menu!! The quality is fantastic, along with the presentation of the dishes and the cocktails. It’s your chance for real top-notch cuisine in Playa, so don’t miss out!! Definitely a new gem that’s worth a try!! I can’t wait until my next visit - I’ve been twice already!!

Bad customer service from water’s, we drove 30 minutes to get food for to go , he didn’t give us spoons and knives and napkins and he said we don’t have it for to go, and also ordered cook and it was warm ( they don’t have cold any beverages)and add the end stupid guy charge us 20 percent more for to go order with excellent service. I don’t recommend for to go order and the food was ok but The beef meets was un cooked and I put it in street for homeless dogs. Service time: 05/09/2022 at 10:30 pm.

Visited with friends on their recommendation, had a selection off the menu and some specials, far too many to list them all. The combination of flavours in each dish, from the first bite to the last left you wondering how they worked together, amazed that they did and looking forward to the next exciting dish to be presented. Every dish explained by the very knowledgeable server with recommendation of how to approach and eat it. I can honestly say that it was the best dining experience I have had for a long time. We still have 10days of holiday left staying in an AI a good 1hr away but will definitely be visiting again before we leave. Worth the trip. And added bonus they are opening up a new restaurant in Playa Del Carmen very soon.

We loved Mestixa so much we ate here 4 times in our two weeks in Tulum! Must try: lettuce tacos (both versions are brilliant), bao buns, chicken sando and the deserts are insane. Everything is super-flavourful, surprising and delicious. Can't recommend this place enough :) Oh, and the cocktails are really great too!

Tere is noting wrong with serving pretentious food, but iit all starts with understanding food. Without this there is only pretentious left. This is the case at Mestixa. One more thing: wile in most restaurants in Tulum the staff wears a mask, this was removed by our waiter at our table. He also greeted friends with hugs. Not very good in times of a panemic.
Stumbled across this place because El Asadero was closed. Food was surprisingly mind blowing. Incredible how they combine Japanese and Mexican cuisines. Marcelo, our waiter, gave us great recommendations and provided excellent service. Mushroom bao and al pastor skirt steak are highly recommended. Cocktails were delicious and there is no going wrong on the menu. HIGHLY recommend! (We have very high standards)

The place looks very nice. We had tostadas, tacos, buns with soft shell crab. I loved that they included local ingredients, less known to tourists. Service was also great.

This unassuming little spot off Avenida Satellite shows just how right you can sometimes get it! Everything is just absolutely right, from the warm friendly welcome to the elegant minimal decor. Cocktails in Tulum are often too sweet, but not here - the Mezcal negroni is spot on. And then the food - original, inventive, combining Japanese and Mexican flavours perfectly to create something unique you won’t want to miss! Particular favourites included the cochinita pibil dumplings and the prawn tempura tacos, but everything else was wonderful too! I also want to mention how great the service is - our waitress gave top advice on which dishes to try, and in what order, and we also enjoyed watching the staff indulge in a few dance breaks between orders. Don’t miss this little gem!
