The Island - Solymar Hotel Restaurant

It’s your average buffet bar that you would find in the states. It looked like everything was coated in butter, and there weren’t really options for people with my kind of food allergies.

Dietary restrictions: Not many gluten free options. It looked like there was dairy in almost every dish. There also wasn’t much help in English, but that was fine because I used Google translate to communicate.

From the other reviews, I was expecting inedible food, but it wasn’t too bad... Think food from the 1970s: tuna, pasta salad, pasta with a jar of Alfredo sauce, a really delicious soup, a chicken dish, a pork dish, Jello… the selection is small and enough. I just don’t think it was worth $350 pesos per person.

This was one of the worst meals of my life. We paid $1,000 a person for the buffet on New Year’s Eve because we were hungry and running out of options with most places requiring reservations. However, I can honestly say it would have been better to just be hungry and not eat versus eating the “food” here.The “salad” was lettuce in a soup of dressing.The “meat” was tough as jerkyThe “fettuccine” was cold and essentially noodles with heavy cream on top.I don’t know how it’s even possible to make food this bad. You’d really have to try hard.

Excelente ubicación Nos alojamos en el condominio , con todo el acceso a los servicios del hotel , la alberca en buenas condiciones , solo tiene algo de arena o piedras a la salida que pueden raspar un poco las plantas de los pies. El acceso a la playa es fenomenal , hay papalas disponibles llegando temprano. El restaurante parecía muy lleno , no lo visitamos, ya que la suite tiene cocineta. Instalaciones algo antiguas sin dejar de ser funcionales

El hotel no le hacen mantenimiento, pareciera un hotel baratísimo y corriente, solo una sábana en la cama, no hay ni edredón. No lo recomiendo para nada, la comida está muy xs, el agua de la alberca se miraba sucia, ni siquiera nos metimos, no vayan
