Was on vacation with six of my friends, came here for dinner to celebrate a friends Masters and needless to say I’d recommend. Service was good & the food & dessert were top notch. If you’re in Cancun you should definitely check them out.

I visited Tora for dinner. The view was amazing and the atmosphere was great. The quality of the food was of a high standard. The evening ended up being a little disappointing due to one of the waiters. His behaviour was below standard and I'm sure the owner/manager would think the same.A 20% tip was automatically added to the dinner bill (illegal to do this in MEX?). The waiter asked us if we would like to add a tip, we said it's already included. He then said that 'that tip doesn't come to me, it's shared'. So....he was asking us to tip twice. We thought this was unprofessional. Not a nice way to finish the evening. Bad taste left in our mouths at the end. The waiter let down his employer, this is why I give 2*.

Ugh I hate to only give a 3/5 but with other restaurants on the strip, there are better options. Really feel like Torá is going downhill…..The good: food taste amazing and there is a good selection. There is a fun atmosphere and a fun fire show that is visible from both Tora and Rosa negra. The service (food delivery and accommodation) were great! The bad: up sell up sell up sell, be ready for being told the most expensive menu item when asking for a recommendation like a speaking with a trained dog lol. Also felt as though we didn’t belong, like the server and manager was upset we were there? As though he wanted people ordering more expensive dishes, even though our bill for 2 was well over $250 USD. BEWARE of tip being included in bill already! We asked the server what the $500 peso line (labeled propina) was and he confirmed it was “taxes”, this could of been a language barrier but this was definitely not taxes it was a tip included in the bill, you are welcome Mr. Sever for the 40% tip…. Lol they are all just money hungry read 90% of the bad reviews. First two times we went it wasn’t an issue, this time it was. Thanks for the fun times Tora, you used to be our favorite restaurant but with your money hungry attitude and lack of a friendly wait staff, you are just not the place for us anymore on our trips to Cancun, date visited 2/24/24

I am not sure where the good reviews are coming from. USD $800 for 5 people at lunch time, for mediocre food, is just too ridiculous not to mention for Cancun’s standards. I don’t mind paying this money at a Michellin restaurant, but seriously, there were some chefs in our group, and they mentioned how poorly made was the food. This is a cafeteria style Asian-food with Michellin 2 star restaurant- prices. Won’t be back.

Food is way too expensive for what you get, despite that they claim to only use the best of ingredients. It is also not authentic Japanese food, but tastes good. Menu should have more options. Location may also be a factor in pricing though. Still, as someone people who frequently eats sushi and has dined in many fine-dining Japanese restaurants, there is no reason for the food to be this expensive. Servers also use the amount of food you order and the amount of money you spend to judge your priority as a customer which is only to be expected in fine-dining, but the blatant carelessness to even hide the fact that they think you aren't as important as the high-paying customers was slightly offensive. We asked the server for the bill but then he proceeded to go join other servers to sing happy birthday to another customer when he could have just given us the bill first. Since we have already finished our food and have been waiting for a while, we then asked the hostess (who said she was the manager of the restaurant) to get it but then she went and did the same thing. We ended up almost missing our flight.

We went by recommendation from our hotel to make some break in eating of local food and satisfy sushi cravings. The food was good, though, imho, over expensive.Gave overall stars off also for running a pushing advertisement campaign in the end of the meal and an attempt to include tips for service in the bill before client authorization.PS The sunset was gorgeous and conditionally free! :-)

I have been to all the restaurants in the RosaNegra group and Tora is the only one at which I felt ripped off and underwhelmed. We ordered the hamachi crudo appetizer, which was good, nothing special. Then we had the colossal Nigerian shrimp, which was also fine (could have been any regular shrimp). And then we had the seafood rice pot which was an abomination - no proper Japanese restaurant would ever put parmesan and mozzarella into a rice dish. It was a goopy mess - like a heavy, buttery risotto. But I did not want a risotto and the menu didn't make it clear at all. The waiter even said that it was only vaguely Japanese. For dessert we had the key lime pie. It was enormous but inedible - another goopy, tasteless mess. I am disappointed that a place so beautiful, with such wonderful caring staff could get the food so wrong.

In an effort to present a relaxed atmosphere, they fall into inattention and overconfidence. I found the quality of the food very average, nothing spectacular to justify the price, in addition to very long times to serve very simple dishes. The view of the lagoon is very polluted with unevenness that does not allow you to enjoy the scenery, in an already boring environment. In drinks, the mixology drinks that I ordered and were the "flagship" of the place, felt very discounted, ice in excess, the flavor of the liquor that should stand out was not tasted. Sorry for not including photos but they are not worth the effort.?

the restaurant setting is right on the water with a dock and absolutely beautiful, and the service was fantastic but everything went kind of down hill from there. The menu was EXPENSIVE for very mediocre food. There’s definitely way better restaurants and experiences more worth the money. The restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday night was also completely dead - maybe 5 tables total. The waitstaff gave their best efforts to try and pump up the crowd to compete with rosa negra Nextdoor but it was mostly just awkward. The fire show that is seen on social media is very cool but they bring the crowd from rosa next door over and is only 10 minutes so the vibes is misleading. Drinks were way too sweet and tasted no alcohol. Wanted to leave this so others are not misled by reviews - they offer guests a free round of shots in exchange for good google reviews.
