As part of a hotel’s all inclusive package, this place was amazing! The salmon sashimi was very fresh & the portions were quite generous. Everything was very tasty and our waiter, Jazmin did a great job taking care of us.

Excellent Japanese food restaurant. The attention of Manager Nadia, the best. Chefs Alberto and Jeovani prepare some scrumptious dishes and Mixologist Ramsés prepared us some highly recommended sake drinks.

Food service at the Japanese "Umami" restaurant can seem somewhat slow - but the food is delicious.

2nd attempt: faster service and food just as tasty! I think the Shake Don was my favorite dish but everything was awesome.

I would only recommend this restaurant if you are staying at the all inclusive hotel (NYX). It is pretty dang expensive without the all inclusive package.

We arrived on time and we greeted by our hostess Yensy. Romses provided a welcome drink from his own imagination. It was fresh and delicious. We both enjoyed it so much we ordered it as a cocktail. Our waitress Jazmin was extremely efficient and pleasant. We had Salmon prepared on the Teppanyaki table by our Chef Guadalupe, it was delicious fresh and very tender. Our meal was completed with a Green Tea pudding that was light and delicious. My wife was surprised receiving cheesecake and a Happy Mothers Day wish. We WILL return and highly recommend Umami

The steak was very tasty but had a few chewy pieces. My wife had salmon that was very good. I had to order my beverage twice and was given salad when I ordered soup. Overall a good experience.

Laura was our waitress and she made us feel welcomed. It is a formal dress code. The Sushi was the main meal alongside one of their cocktails. The taste was beautiful and definitely enjoyed the meal. I would highly recommend.

1. The sushi is not made from sushi rice, it is the normal rice. Sushi rice should be made with vinegar.2. The restaurant always plays Chinese music, as you know this is a Japanese restaurant, it may be suspected of cultural misappropriation.3. The ramen is too salty.However,Severs did a great job.

I absolutely loved this restaurant when I stayed at Hotel NYX and that is a part of the all inclusive package!!! The staff was friendly and came by one by one to take our orders and drinks. I love how we get to watch the chefs make our food right in our face, but this also means that seating is limited. However, you can’t do reservations but put your name down and wait for your turn.As part of the all inclusive, we could only select one dish from the 5 categories:1. entrees and salads2. soup and noodles | breaded and fried3. rice | sashimi | temaki and conos | nigiri sushi4. maki mono and rolls | specials5. dessert—1. I’ve tried the seaweed salad and akami salad, but the akami salad was definitely the better choice. It comes with seared tuna and thick slices of avocados and tomatoes.2. I’ve tried the fried octopus, fried chicken kaarage, and miso soup. The fried octopus was tough and hard to chew. The kaarage wasn’t juicy as I’d like but it was okay. The best one of this section was definitely the miso soup. It was hot and flavorful with scallions and seaweed. But I only had one tiny cube of tofu, so I wish there were more.3. For this section, I highly recommend the spicy tuna hand roll 100%. I loved it so much that I got it two nights in a row. It is filled to the brim with the spicy tuna!4. I had the salmon skin special (2 pc) and kani roll (8 pc). The kani roll was a glorified california roll, still delicious.5. We had the choice between two desserts: a yuzu pastel and a clear cake. The yuzu one had an immediate flavor profile, but I preferred the mitsumami because it was not very sweet. It still had a lychee flavor, so it wasn’t flavorless. Both came with a small white chocolate with the restaurant name.

The place is very cool inside the Nyx Hotel, and it is half hidden. All the food is of good quality and the menu is extensive, however the service is very slow. They told us it's because all the food is prepared fresh, but it took more than 40 minutes for some of my friends to get their food. It is at a good price for being inside a hotel in the Hotel Zone.
