If you are looking for an authentic Mexican food experience, look no further than Locheria. Large, delicious food portions, reasonable costs, all while sitting in the dining room area of a local family. Deisy is very pleasant and busy but helpful. The chicken fajitas were to die for and the green enchilada (filled with shredded chicken) was savory and deliciously spicy. Buckets of sauces including one with spicy potatoes are freely available so patrons can add them to their dishes. We saw several locals drop in for takeaway so you know the food is amazing. We heard the chicken lime soup is amazing so we will be back again and again. Very cost effective.

My husband and I went with friends went last night to this quiet, safe residential neighborhood. The tacos were very delicious. My husband had the chicken enchiladas that were excellent. Our friends enjoyed the roasted pork tacos. I love the variety of sauces offered. They also have beans and potatoes to add to each taco. The place is very clean. The owner is very kind and most welcoming. The tortillas are handmade which makes the tacos more delicious. I love going to small, family-run restaurants. Very reasonable prices. No wonder this place is so popular, especially among the gringos. Highly recommended.

They open at 6pm. It is in a residential neighborhood. There is an English menu and everything is great. Really like the lime soup in particular. Lots of free side dishes like potatoes, beans, avocado sauce, rice.
Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free options.
Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs but doorway is narrow.

12/8/22I ordered chicken soup and 3 beef arrachera tacos. The soup had plenty of chicken. The taco meat was tender. Toppings were self served from bowls on the counter. The toppings were fresh, spicy and very good. The beer selection was poor and the beer was not that cold, typical of the island restaurants I tried. They did not have coke zero, my favorite soft drink. The atmosphere was cozy, think the restaurant is the owner's home. But the service was friendly. Glad we went, would go again.

Hidden gem of Isla Mujeres. Very homey, laidback, probably some of the best food on the island
