“Only open Sunday mornings ONLY for traditional family meal: slow-cooked pit BBQ with delicate lamb flavor sold by weight- Order 200g per person if you are hungry. Corn tortillas, condiments including nopales (pickled cactus), diced onions and lime included. Salsas too. Be sure to start your adventure with a cup or bowl of consommé- rich, mellow broth made from the meat drippings with some chick peas at the bottom. The food here was a divine experience.Atmosphere is a family-oriented meal. This is Sunday brunch for locals. A chance to ditch the tourist spots and have some real experience- must visit if you are in CZM on a Sunday morning!Walk west to Av. 8 de Octobre Nte. to find a taxi back to your hotel.Note: Only bottled soda containing sugar is available. If you want water, please BYO.

“The location is wrong on google, there are 2 with the same name nearby and one of them is wrong. They might not be open exactly when they say but just keep checking and they will probably open up. The queso birria Tacos with the consume are fire ??? Get you some!“

“Great food and impeccable service in this quiet, relaxed corner away from the hubbub of Avenida Juarez.
The cochinita pibil is excellent, the barbecue tuna is exquisite, and the cocktails are also excellent.

“Absolutely the best all around ❤️. These waiters are amazing, fast, and friendly. The food made my toes wiggle. El Fogo has many locations in Playa del Carmen, Mexico ??

“The truth in terms of cost/benefit is a super place. Ribs and roast chicken are the two main dishes, including rice, beans and tortillas in all orders. The place to eat there is small so takeout is the best option. They also have very rich tasting waters.“

“The 2 of us ordered: Pulled beef and Minced Beef Empanadas, brisket and beef short ribs platters. This was a lot of food, we felt that although the meat fell off the bone it was also dry and lacking a bit of flavour. When you go, ask the waiter to give you extra barbecue sauce. Would go again!“

“I love the nachos with flank steak and the Aztec molcajete, the sauce they use in the molcajete is simply delicious. The service is very good, but it is not pleasant that they add the tip without asking. We can evaluate the attention of the waiters and decide how much tip to consider.“

“I had the frijoles charros, which while delicious, were nearly more meat than beans; I was hoping for a great bean dish, this was more a meat and bean soup. I also had the tacos costilla and they were delicious also, perfectly tender meat, and great salsas. A not spicy green salsa and a very spicy flavorful red salsa. Tortillas were hot and fresh!Service was very good and attentive; though I was spoken to in English despite myself speaking in Spanish (not great Spanish).The atmosphere was pretty good except the music was louder than needed.Overall I'd go back since I currently live nearby.
Parking: Lots of empty street to park on.“
