Came here on two separate occasions for the Buffet only for it to be closed. First time was because they decided to close the buffet on Mondays and Tuesdays and only updated their Facebook- Okay, whatever that sucks we thought, lets just go back on a thursday. We came back Thursday only to discover the buffet closes at 8pm which contradicts what's written on Facebook and their Google. I just wanted some crappy Canadian Chinese and now I'm just sad, please update your information.

I did not have a pleasant experience at Diplomat Restaurant, as the manager and supervisor did not demonstrate a customer-oriented manner. Unfortunately, their approach negatively affected our evening, which could have been avoided with more respectful and considerate communication. as a result of this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan to return.

😡😡😡 I strongly do not recommend The Diplomat to anyone. Don’t go—it’s not worth it even once. The dishes were filthy, the space was extremely cramped, and the buffet food was clearly stale (looked 1–2 days old). Staff were rude and disrespectful after seating us, stared at customers while we were eating, and even started vacuuming while we were still at the table, causing dust to fall on our food and making it inedible. I’d rather stay hungry than eat here😡

$37 for a buffet that offer about 12 hot dishes (along with cold plates and desserts), which consist of white rice, ramen noodle, over-done fried chicken and heavily breaded chicken balls. Throw a coffee or drink in, along with a tip and you’re over $50 for a mediocre buffet… once was enough for me.

I was there this week in a large group on Tuesday for lunch. Our seating area was great, the lunch buffet and food ordered off the menu was good. I had the buffet, enjoyed the flavours of the dishes, especially the curry, the spicy veggie, & the dish with shrimp was tasty too. Everyone seemed to enjoy their selections! What stood out to me was our server. I’ve never seen anyone so attentive & proactive in their approach to looking after a large group. I regretfully did not ask her name as she moved around refilling drinks, removing plates, providing bowls, extra napkins, leftover containers, etc.. All without even asking, or really having to anticipate anything. 🤩
First time going and not disappointed. Good food. Great cheesecake. Definitely will be going back.
