Exceptional pho and great atmosphere
Best Pho in Freddy!
I stopped by this restaurant during a road trip across Canada, coming from Vancouver. As a Vietnamese person born and raised in a big city known for amazing Vietnamese food—and someone who regularly visits Vietnam—I came in with tempered expectations. After all, this is a small town with limited competition, even though the place had some strong reviews.
To be honest, if you're not too familiar with authentic Vietnamese cuisine, this spot might seem okay. But even if you're not Vietnamese, you'll likely notice something essential is missing.
Now, about the lunch special beef pho: the portion was shockingly small—more like a personal-sized bowl. The broth was just okay, but it had too much ginger for my taste. They advertise a 9-hour simmered broth with fresh herbs, cilantro, and basil... but none of that showed up in my bowl.
What really turned me off was the bean sprouts—pre-mixed into the bowl instead of served on the side with herbs. That’s not how pho should be served, and it felt like a tactic to make the bowl look fuller than it was. The total came to $40 CAD with tax and tip—easily the most expensive and most disappointing bowl of pho I've had in Canada.
In short: if you've had the real thing before, you're probably going to feel let down here.
The staff are not accomodating. We were just asking extra bowl for the soup and they keep asking for additional charge. Everytime we ask for something they keep on asking for additional charge. Its not our first time here but this time the staff named June did it to us. Its a very poor customer service. Will not recommend it and we will not gonna come back there anymore. They are just after for money not to give a good customer service. First time to experience this.
Went there as a five people group, and wasn't told they charge automatic gratuity and double tipped. Very sneaky. They didn't bother showing us the bills either. Shame on you.
Decent meal, good portions, pricy. When you pay $70 (including tip) for one pho and one rice dish (no drinks) you would think they could throw in a takeout container without charging you.
As someone who loves Pho, their Pho Brisket and Pho Rare Beef did not disappoint. The soup base was what expected, flavourful and delicious. I recommend adding more to their pho menu. Other than that, my daughters and I were satisfied.
The spicy Thai green curry here 🤙🏻
First time trying, great spot, big portions very clean environment. 10/10
The chicken in my chicken pho was dry, and there was realistically only one chopstick full of noodles. Overloaded with bean sprouts and other leaves. Not enough noodles.
Restaurantji Recommends
I give a total of 4 stars: 3 stars for food +1 star for being located in Fredericton which really satisfied my Asian food craving. Recommend the brisket pho, birds nest noodle.
Do not recommend the tom yum soup (very watery, no depth of flavour, and the ingredients are not traditional or authentic). Do not recommend the house special fried rice either. It was bland and had 2 shrimps, and the meat was dry.
Pad Thai noodles were over cooked and mushy, sauce was runny, the beef chewy and missing flavour. I order the ‘wok of the day’ and ended not paying the price of the day. We love Pad Thai and eat it often from a variety of restaurants. But this one ended up in the garbage, I could not bring myself to eat it even for $25.
Perfect place in Fredericton. Love it
