In my pursuit of discovering new restaurants in the vicinity and beyond, I was pleasantly surprised to encounter one on the North side of Fredericton that I had yet to visit. Upon arrival, the building exuded an aesthetic appeal, and the restaurant interior mirrored this charm. While the service was somewhat slow, it was of exceptional quality. However, the experience took a turn for the negative, which is the reason for our dissatisfaction. The food and drinks were subpar. The drinks contained incorrect ingredients, and the food ordered was unsatisfactory. The seafood was undercooked , while the spinach dip was tasty but served in an excessively small portion, barely 1/8” thick, resembling a smear for $15. My Bisson burger was inedible, despite its high price of $27, which I typically appreciate. This was a table of 10 and at least 7 main courses were not eatable. It is imperative that the restaurant’s culinary staff undergo training to enhance their skills. While the restaurant’s overall ambiance and service were commendable, the subpar food and drinks were unacceptable. The restaurant did offer partial meal restorations, but a drive-thru stop on the way home was necessary to compensate for the shortcomings.

I also worked in food industry i always appreciate whatever customer give as a tip even if it’s 5cent or 50 dollars both are equally appreciated.
I went there with my family to try a new place with new food. But I don’t know why your service all depends on tips . I wonder how can a staff member asks you a question are u new in canada ?and asking ..where are you actually from ?and showing attitude after getting 5 American dollars as a tip .
When we ask what happened is there anything wrong she flaunts her attitude and said I was just wondering because u give me American bills . And she went back and put it back on the table and leave the tip on table.
That’s so heart breaking and I feel very bad on the choice to pick this restaurant for my family time.

Although from out-of-town, I’ve dined here a few times as a friend lives nearby. Nice atmosphere and service was good. Unfortunately, each time I’m here, the food seems just a bit more disappointing. On our recent visit, the calamari was small and chewy - cut into very thin rings so that it was more coating than calamari. The seafood risotto was flavourful but couldn’t identify what type of rice was used - it certainly didn’t taste or have the texture of Arborio - and was drowning in the broth. It’s a good place to drop in for a cold pint after a round of golf but there are better restaurants in Fredericton.

I loved everything about this restaurant. The chicken club I ordered was delicious . The waitress was super friendly and the atmosphere was great with a beautiful view of the golf course.

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at St James Gate and I cannot recommend them enough. Jessica and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. The food was delicious, they were so accommodating with dietary restrictions, and above all they were friendly and wonderful to work with. The cherry on top is that the views are beautiful!

Atmosphere is great. Service is even better. Our food showed up nice and hot but it was nothing special. I did not like the texture of the chicken. Presentation was great.

Way to loud to have a conversation on the side. More like a decorated hall.
Our food was very oily, still I couldn't finish my plate.
Company says their food was very salty.
The server was very friendly but not very observative.
Not sure if we would go again.

St James Gate is our favourite place to dine in Fredericton! Great food, friendly service and a super welcoming atmosphere. We love that every time we come we see lots of familiar faces. A super cozy spot for date night, a nice dinner with family, or even a fun night out friends. The menu is delicious with lots of variety! You can tell everyone works as a team to make customers feel comfortable and taken care of!
