“While in Moncton for a conference, I was looking for a place to grab a decent meal and catch up with an old high school friend. I hadn’t heard of the Tide & Boar Gastropub before this trip, but it was close to my hotel, and the reviews seemed promising, so we decided to give it a try. My son was also with me.

The atmosphere inside was lively but not overwhelming, with a cozy, slightly rustic interior that gives off a mix of modern gastropub and down-to-earth East Coast hospitality. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and we were seated quickly despite the place being moderately busy.

I ordered the fish and chips paired with one of their local craft beers. The fish was beautifully battered and fried to a crisp golden brown, with tender, flaky fish inside and perfectly seasoned fries on the side. My son went with a steak and a lemonade, and while the steak wasn’t massive, it was well-cooked and flavourful.

Here’s the catch: the bill, including tip, came out to just under $90. For a gastropub, that’s steep—especially when you’re not ordering cocktails or appetizers. I do realize this is Moncton, not Montreal, and that sometimes prices are inflated due to a lack of nearby competition or smaller supply chains. Still, it felt off. The quality of the food was very good, and the experience was positive, but I can’t help but feel the pricing pushes it out of the casual dinner territory.

It’s a great spot for tourists wanting to try something local and well-reviewed, and I’m glad I had the chance to visit and catch up with an old friend. But unless the prices come down a bit or the portions go up, I don’t see myself returning on a future trip.“

“Most welcoming and delicious restaurant around! Everything is so good, you can’t go wrong with whatever they recommend - Thang always describes the food/flavours super accurately, which is really helpful if you’re indecisive or curious to try something new! I definitely recommend the Moncton location for the warm and friendly service, they consistently go above and beyond to create the best experiences! 🙂 The beverages are some of our favourites, but honestly everything is amazing. They make a lot of stuff themselves, like broths and various sauces. Thang is super enthusiastic about the authentic cuisine that he and his family make, you can tell they really want to share their passion for food with everyone! They seem to put a lot of effort into their menu and having a good variety! 🙌 Just maybe prepare for a food coma, because it’s hard not to get everything on the menu! 👌“

“This is a great spot indeed. The patio is the best in town with water views and the new bar. All of the staff and management are superb as we have been visiting here often. They have a great selection of Burgers and hot dogs in addition to may other entrees. If you like fresh homemade cakes and pies check them out as they are wonderful. Classic Burger Moncton“

“What a little gem. Everything that a good restaurant should be. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, server was very quick to get our drink and menu order. The food was delicious, and the prices better than what we expected. Top notch service from start to finish, and they don't rush you out the door. We'll be back.“

“I'm not sure how traditional the food is but it is tasty and especially good for a chain. Not as spicy as some Mexican places I've seen been which makes it approachable to more people. If you want more spice they'll happily give you some spicy sauces to try. The artwork on the walls is also really neat.“

“fantastic meal one of my favorite Chinese food places , they have the great ingredients even some more candian specials like shrimp or scallops. the skechuan dishes 😋 but most of all is the house of lamb rolls I don't know how they put beef inside chicken but it's my dream come true best of both worlds chicken and beef in the same roll“

“I ordered some donairs and a cheeseburger pizza this evening. I have tried 2 other Grecos in town and decided to try the Elmwood location. The donairs were the best I have had, the pita and meat was fresh, not dry. My pizza was cooked perfect and the dough was soft, not hard. This will be our go to location going forward! Plus, the service was excellent! I highly recommend Elmwood Greco!“

“Not a bad experience. I went and ordered online beforehand, but the pizza wasn't ready at the estimated time. However it was Friday so I do expect some delay, regardless the food was top notch and tasted spectacular. Will definitely be ordering from this Papa John's again once I'm in the area“
