El Rey Toro Mexican Food is a small, hidden gem located in Stokesdale, connected to Refuel Gas Station. The restaurant has limited seating with only 4 tables and a few bar chairs, so takeout is often recommended. The food is consistently good and well-seasoned, with a particular highlight being the salsa made with onions and cilantro. The grilled chicken is perfectly seasoned, while the skirt steak can be tough and may need marinating. The taco shell is fantastic, and the beans and rice complement the meals well. Popular dishes include the wet burritos and birria, especially the quesabirria served with consume for dipping. The fresh juices and authentic Mexican coke in a bottle add to the experience. Although prices are a bit higher, the quality ingredients and great customer service make it worth visiting again.
