Great food... fast but freshly made... service great! Very clean! Best Mexican food I've had in a long time!

Food was very good, service and atmosphere was lively but also relaxing. Prices varied like most restaurants and given the extensive menu not overly expensive. You could tell the staff was dedicated to your enjoyment and upbeat about their restaurant. I'll be back.

Great place! New to the area and decided to try for lunch based on reviews. Extensive menu offering a wide assortment of Mexican dishes. We stayed with more traditional -- fajitas and street tacos, which were delicious and nicely plated. Nice decor and vibe, great service, very clean (including restrooms). Will definitely return.

The Happy Taco was my stop the other night. Not bad...kind of middle of the road Mexican. I had Tacos Don Ramon and they were decent.

Fantastic authentic Mexican food! I do t generally like the white sauce that comes with the chips, but theirs is addicting! Highly recommend the sopes!

Ordered takeout while I was in town for business. Was very happy to see birria tacos on the menu & was craving a dessert so got the tres leches cake to go with it. They also offered chips and salsa. I was very surprised to see the huge portion size for the tacos. I expected smaller tacos & maybe 3 total but these were bigger double layered corn tortillas with cheese in between and delicious birria beef inside with onions & cilantro. This was served with consommé, grilled onions, grilled jalapeño, lime & radishes. The tres leches was also substantial...The cake was baked in the small (pint sized?) take out container, soaked with tres leches & topped with whipped topping & pineapple. Highly recommend! This was more than enough food imho for 2 people & it was absolutely delicious!

The Happy Taco has lots of pluses: good service, prices, portion sizes and a nice facility. I had a barbacoa burrito which was good but not great. The result: an overall rating of 4.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch. The staff were very friendly and decor in he restaurant is beautiful. It's very clean. I just had a steak street taco and it was very tasty. If we lived in the area I would definitely make this a frequented spot.

We have groups use their large room (20-30 at a time). We get the best service and everyone is always pleased with everything they've ordered in multiple visits!

Food is amazing, reminds me of ChiChis. Tortilla shells are excellent and fresh. I've tried a few items and everything is great! Staff is friendly and attentive.

Good food, good ambiance, good bar and drinks. This is the place to go if you're just passing through Elizabeth City like us. I'm not local but my parents, brother, and I came here and had a great meal and some big delicious margaritas. The music inside and the interior decoration was all on point. We had fresh made guac and warm tortilla chips to start, then various burritos for dinner. 10 out of 10 would come here again.

This place is like that song your friend tells you to listen to but when you finally do, you realize your friend has horrible taste in music. We saw lots of good reviews of this place but it was a huge disappointment. The steak seems to come from a can and the rice doesn't taste like Mexican rice. This place is very mediocre and sadly standard for Mexican food in the south. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because our server was very friendly and hospitable.

Stopped in on a Friday at 5pm. Restaurant was empty except for us and maybe 2 other tables. Super hot in the restaurant, we were seated right away at the bar, it was so hot that the beer taps were sweating profusely. The food was delicious but the service was awful. Pretty sad when you can't get decent service in a place where there are more employees than customers.

If you are looking for real deal in street tacos, the Happy Taco is your kind of place. The homemade corn tortillas were top notch. The owner is from south Texas and he has brought authentic ingredients and flavors to Elizabeth City. Service was excellent. Next time I'm in town I will make a stop here.
