Finally tried Mustang Charlie's Diner and so glad we did! Just look for the neon in the back corner inside the Ford dealership and you will find a cute 50's styled diner. We had breakfast on a Saturday morning and tried the French toast and pancake plates. They were both super yummy with generous portions and very reasonably priced. Nothing fancy, just good solid diner food which is exactly what we were wanting. As a bonus after breakfast we checked out the classic cars on display in the lobby. Felt like we had found a hidden gem!

I’d heard good things about this diner located inside the Crossroads Ford dealership in Apex. Hearing about it is the main way the diner gets customers…through word of mouth.“The” dish that is unique to the diner is the Trash Plate which is a staple in Rochester NY. I had never had one before so I didnt know what to expect. Turns out its a plate filled with cold macaroni salad (1/2) and fried potatoes (1/2) and on top of that is a hamburger. The hamburger is covered with what they call their signature “meat sauce”. And then the meat sauce is slathered with yellow mustard. Ok…so if the description was confusing….so was the meat sauce. Hmmm. I don’t think I’ve ever been for a lack of words or unable to describe a food or flavor…umm…it was minuscule bits of meat in a sauce that had a flavor that wasn’t identifiable. Imagine a beef chili with only meat and the meat being the size of a pin head, and there being more meat than sauce. That was served on top of the thinnest hamburger I have ever seen (best way to describe is 1/2 the thickness of a McDonald’s hamburger). The burger didn’t have flavor. The macaroni salad lacked flavor. The potatoes were good. I don’t understand the trash plate….The person I was with had a BLT. Plain Jane, as basic as basic gets, with tater tots. The tots were good.

Great place for kids! Took my 2.5 year old tonight and ordered breakfast for dinner. For $9.99, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 scrambled eggs, and 2 pieces of french toast (or you can do 2 waffles or 2 pancakes). Comes with home fries but swapped them for french fries. Everything was made fresh, and you can tell. We took him over to the little indoor playground to play while we waited for his food, and again after he had finished eating. There was even another room with toys, including tons of matchbox cars.Cheap, fresh food, fun, and a super convenient location.Kid-friendliness: Commented on this above.

Food good, friendly service, environment very unpleasant, very loud and ecologically undesirable. Have to walk the gauntlet of (commission) hungry car salespeople to enter and exit plus everything, everything is served on eternally polluting styrofoam with plasticware, even when dining in. It's a great idea but we won't return.

This was an unbelievable find. A great diner inside the middle of a car dealership! These people know how to make grits, and they know what butter means! I had whole wheat toast too. Although that was not a lot, and I came here at a business meeting, it made a great impression on me to come back and look at a car as well. This place really cares for people. And no, I do not own a car that I bought here. Yet.

Met a friend here for breakfast this morning. Traffic in the restaurant remained steady and the service was fast. The staff was super friendly and they did a good job making sure the restaurant stayed clean. I got the ham trash plate and it was just okay, but I wouldn't order it again. I wasn't a fan of the mustard they put on top of the eggs and everything tasted super salty. I'd go back and try something else from the menu. Overall, I'd rate my experience as 3/5 because of the food.
