We were not aware they were out of a few menu items until we sat down.
We had the pot roast, the sweet heat shrimp wrap, the shrimp crab cakes and the green tomatoes. The potatoes that came with the pot roast were actually decent and the green tomatoes were good, everything else was bad. The service was the only redeeming quality.
Azalea Kitchen has some of the absolute best service in all of Asheville we felt cared for the minute we walked in the door. And the food was delicious. We enjoyed the Wednesday night half price appetizers including the Shrimp and Grit Cakes and Fried green tomatoes with the layered bacon jam, both a true southern treat. My husband and I were in a salad mood, so we enjoyed the Signature Caesar Salad and Goat Over Yonder with a fabulous goat cheese medallion. I will be recommending this restaurant to all of my friends!
Unacceptable Service and Management Practices
I rarely write negative reviews, but in this case, I feel it’s necessary to warn others.
Unfortunately, my experience here was completely unacceptable and disappointing.
I ordered a Beet the Heat with no ice — something I’ve done countless times at many other establishments without any issue. The first time, I was served only less than three-quarters of a glass. When I politely questioned it, I was told that filling the glass completely would require me to pay for a second drink, which made no sense whatsoever.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a second one, hoping it was just a misunderstanding — only to be served barely half a glass this time.
Serving significantly less product simply because a customer requests no ice is completely unprofessional, unethical, and frankly, insulting. It shows a lack of respect for customers and a concerning disregard for basic business standards.
Sadly, this is not just a matter of poor service, but a reflection of management’s policies and priorities.
I would strongly discourage others from visiting until they correct these unacceptable practices.

Great food! Got the Brussels sprouts, salmon, and the chicken sandwich. We loved all of it! Service was lovely, vibes were on point, and for the amount paid the value was great!
Wow! What a fantastic new place to discover on the edge of Kenilworth! Incredible service, very cool vibe and great food and drinks. Thank you Stacie! This is going to be a new regular spot for us.

We absolutely loved our experience at Azalea. The lounge is the perfect fusion of cozy/intimate and cool vibes. Amazing service and a must-try, hand-crafted, winter-festive cocktail: my currant jam. The small plates did not disappoint. Our favorite—the Fried Green Tomatoes which were sweet and savory with the bacon jam and decadent pimento cheese. Everything we tried was delicious and rivals DC hipster fare. We consider ourselves cheese connoisseurs—so believe us when we say the grilled cheese was next level good. Get there early for a chance at couch, bar, or easy chair seating. Also a bonus—the super secret kids menu which scored two enthusiastic thumbs up from our niece and nephews.

The service was awesome. Very attentive and friendly. The food was really tasty, there just was not a lot of it for the price. Good for a snack, and again delicious, just not super filling. We both had breakfast burritos, which were $14 each

This menu on Google is NOT the right menu. Their actual menu is completely different and we went here thinking we liked it based on this listed menu and found that we did not actually want to eat there and we left.
