This place has gone downhill. Ordered the meat platter. One box of wet cold soggy undercooked pulled pork. One box of dry old corn bread. Ordered baked beans got Cole slaw instead. Overly vinegary- not good Cole slaw. Only redemption the sweet bbq sauce tasted good but not good enough to fix the texture of raw pork in my mouth.

Went there Satuday, DJ was playing so loud we couldn't talk. They were out of moink balls, lids for drink cups, forks, and tea.
Been going here for a while have been turned away because they were closed even though their open light was on. Or they were out of certain foods. It's sad because the food is good, though it's a bit pricy for the portions.

They were out of several things, not a lot of indoor seating for cold weather. There is plenty of outdoor seating. Too clumsy to manage my experience.

Barbecue was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. Decent selection of beers. I would stay away from the “Sweeten Creek” brews, they are a bit dull and boring

i’ll come back and change my review to 5 stars if yall bring back the burnt ends!!! the burnt ends were the only redeemable item on the menu to make the trip worth it, without them it’s just medicore wanna be southern food and come on i can get that at any other bbq place in town.

Bear’s Smokehouse has the best BBQ in Asheville solely with how amazing their Burnt Ends are. The only problem is, they got rid of them post hurricane so we haven’t been back since 😭 please bring back the burnt ends!!

Only giving four stars on food because they’ve completely taken things off their menu like broccoli salad and baked potatoes that were good alternatives to fatty macaroni and mayonnaise drenched Cole slaw. Being back more sides!!!! Pretty please! Maybe Brussels! Until then we’ll order from other restaurants. The brisket is still one of my favorites in town though and the pulled chicken.

Prices are too high, portions are small, and the food is just not that good.
I got a combo with pulled chicken (no bun), coleslaw, and macaroni and cheese. $18. The pulled chicken was cold but tasted good enough. The amount of food definitely did not seem like it warranted the $18 price tag. I questioned whether the coleslaw was spoiled. I don't think it was, but it certainly did not taste too great. The mac and cheese was all right, but the sauce was a little thin and not cheesy enough. My husband's meal had mostly the same problems - cold food, small portions, and some of it just wasn't good.
I've had so much good barbecue in my life - expensive, inexpensive, the gamut - and this place just wasn't up to par.

Brisket fanatics here. Was very excited about coming here from seeing the award. Brisket meat choice or less. Overcooked and dry. point has no fat at all. Decent rub.
Better choices around. There are some terry blacks and Franklyn's videos the pit master should watch. Menu online says 22$ a pound, was charged 28$ was rude when i just mentioned it, and didnt expect a discount or anything

Prices are too high!! But we wanted to give them a try. We don’t visit Asheville very often. Why would you not have enough brisket??! The coke slaw was gross, too much vinegar or something. The Mac and cheese was dry and crusty. The sauce dispensers were all empty. The restroom was disgusting and smelled like cat piss. But if you enjoy over priced food and subpar sides it might be up your alley.

Didn't get a chance to try the food! I ordered a half pound of brisket! Not ten lbs but a single half pound and a pint of Mac and cheese and these crooks wanted to charge me $28. These people should be ashamed of themselves and as a bartender in asheville I can't wait to tell everyone to stay away and not get ripped off and these people shouldn't last long

i had awful service when i went and i waited a very long time before anyone assisted me. their customer service is awful and i heard rumors that they laid majority of their employees off after a disaster. i would never recommend this place of business. not ever going back smh.
They are working with World Central Kitchen to feed anyone and everyone. I can not understate how amazing it was to have a hot meal when there was no power, water or cell service.

Great place to eat Q downtown Asheville when open. Currently Hq for World Central Kitchen for the disaster relief, which is super fantastic of both the World Central Kitchen and Bear’s allowing WCK to use their facility when Ashevillian’s are/were in need!
