The food & catering services was absolutely incredible. AJ did the wedding himself, roughly 50 people attended and everything went smoothly! The jalapeño deviled eggs were by far my favorite! I would definitely recommend, 10/10!

We used to be regular customers of Black Bear BBQ, eating there at least once a month. We stopped going many months ago for two reasons. The first reason is, a couple of times we weren't happy with the meat. It just wasn't great. The other reason is the way they solicit for tips when you order at the register. It was done in a public way, not only in ear shot of other customers waiting in line, but most importantly, in ear shot of the kitchen. I am a generous tipper but as time went on, it bothered me more and more to be put on the spot like that. Tipping fatigue is real.

I had higher hopes with the reviews but definitely misdirected. Maybe it was just a bad day. I didn’t eat anymore then a bite.

Black Bear BBQ catered my wedding in September and let’s just say every guest & family members were all completely blown away by every item on the menu. We had the fried chicken and pulled pork, best meats any of us have ever had and that fried chicken was some of the best in the world. The mushroom crostini (my favorite) and bruschetta were amazing. The mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, carrots & apples… those were some of the best sides I’ve ever put in my mouth. You can taste every ounce of love that is put into every bite of Black Bear BBQ. We had the mud pie, apple crumble and banana pudding for our dessert station and let’s just say…there were no leftovers! I cannot wait to make my way back to Asheville and revisit the place that made our wedding day so special and comforting. Thank y’all again for the amazing food and service. I recommend Black Bear BBQ to anyone who wants the best, freshest made with love home cooking in the world ♥️

We hired these fine people to cater our rehearsal dinner in Mars Hill. They were so accommodating, on time, and the food was absolutely outstanding!! They delivered everything to our house, set it all up, and absolutely delivered on their word. Everybody had a fantastic time and raved about all the variety of food Black Bear provided for us. I'd highly recommend these guys for catering events and their restaurant as well (they allowed us to come in and do a taste-testing before we committed...so thoughtful of them). Give them a try...brisket, ribs, cucumber salad, Brunswick Stew, cobbler, banana pudding, and so much more...u won't be disappointed!!

I had the barbecue soy curls which were great! You get a large portion if you order the plate with two sides and cornbread. I thought the baked beans, cornbread and vinegar slaw were quite good. All vegan as well. Only downside was I wasn't a fan of the collards (vegan as well and likely hard to get the same flavor). The staff was very nice and accommodating while ordering. I will be back!Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options for sides and either soy curls or jackfruit barbecue!

After a delicious pork BBQ platter a few weeks ago in the restaurant, I noticed they were offering Thanksgiving meal prep to go. We ordered the smoked turkey breast, broccoli casserole, sweet potato casserole, cornbread stuffing, mac & cheese, cranberry sauce, and gravy. Picked it up yesterday along with heating instructions. Had an absolutely delicious Thanksgiving lunch on the table in no time, and now we have leftovers to enjoy for the next several days. Highly recommend anything on the menu, and already planning to order Thanksgiving lunch again next year!

We stopped in after a drive up and down the parkway, to fuel up before heading home. How do people not know about this place? The people at the counter and in the kitchen were all so kind and fun, and loved the costumes for Halloween. Their suggestions were top notch, the food was DELICIOUS, and loved the decor. I REALLY wanted the moose painting. The meat was perfectly cooked, with ribs that had that good crunch outside and delicious inside. The mustard sauce was perfect with the chicken and pulled pork. Mac n cheese and broccoli casserole are both clearly home made (in the best way) and we’re tasty! My fave was a tie between the green beans and the cucumber salad. Somehow the Family 4 meal was more food than we could eat and we wound up bringing some home with us.I wish I had more pics, but trust me, the food is worth the trip and experience. We’ll be back!Vegetarian options: They offered 2 different types of vegan BBQ with soy and jackfruit. I didn’t get to try it yet, but was impressed with the choices!Kid-friendliness: The restaurant was hosting a pumpkin carving event for families in front on their patio, with all the tools, patterns, and other fun things. Keep an eye for more of their events. I bet they’re fun!Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wide open with lots of space between and around tables, with many tables where wheelchairs can roll up.

Got the chopped brisket sandwich lunch combo. The brisket was great! The collards are awesome, too! Coleslaw was on point and simple....KISS... Keep It Simple Stupid! Good all round will be back to try new meats and sides! Some of the best BBQ in Ashevegas!

My wife ordered burnt ends brisket and she couldn’t eat half of the meat because it was 50% fat. The Mac and cheese was good but the attitude of the workers was dismal. Three different employees acted like they were doing you a favor by putting the food on a trey (it’s a cafeteria style restaurant)

Delicious Bbq sandwich with sweet and spicy sauce . Left 2 stars off for the way the lady in the kitchen today was treating the other 2 employees in the kitchen with her today. They ran out of green beans and she was asking a gentleman if he said 86 after serving the last one. She acted like the world was coming to an end. She just appeared overall stressed, irritated and ill. The kitchen is wide open to customers, something to remember when you’re acting ugly.
