We went there, tried ordering food. The clerk told us we needed to be seated before we order and the restaurant was full. We waited quietly, and when a table was available, went and sat at it as told. One of us went to fromtdesk to order food. I stayed at the table, and a tense worker with a forced smile on her face came to me asking a few questions. The gist is: Did you order food? We're ordering. Is the person ordering the first in line? No, but we were here before anyone else in line. We were told to sit down at a table before we order. You can't sit here because you haven't ordered yet, you need to go. So to recap: we can't order until we sit at a table, but we can't sit at a table unless we order. Also the worker, who seemed to present herself as the manager, adopted the coldest, most disagreeable tone you can imagine. It was bordering on antisocial behavior We decided to leave rather than to put up with this shameful behavior. We had sworn off all Chai Pani locations long ago, before they had won their James Beard, due to their rude attitude. We tried today to go past our bad experiences and give them a FOURTH chance. Our experience got only worse. Something is obviously very wrong in the Chai Pani work culture.
i got cancer while eating food worst resturant
If it were up to me, this restaurant group would manage every food option in Asheville. Staff is well trained and the restaurant is clean. You don’t experience that often in Asheville. Food is healthy and delicious. Again, rare here.

The staff are super nice, and it is very quick service, but honestly, the food is a bit of a let down. If it was not for the Desi salad, I do not think I would come back. The rice bowls are very basic and boring, and the lamb burger lacks the finesse of the sloppy Jai. Overall, it is just a cheaper but disappointing version of Chai Pani, but it lacks the depth I fell in love with originally.

Service and atmosphere are good but food quality and taste is awful. The dishes we got were so off on taste and felt like the cook has no one idea who it is supposed to taste. Recommend trying something else in the area.

Happy to have a Botiwalla in downtown Asheville.
Sometimes you just want a quick and easy meal. Always nice when it’s delicious too!
Counter service or take out. Nice menu with some snacks and a handful of rolls. We got a Chicken Tikka Roll & a Paneer Tikka Roll. They’re huge! I was able to enjoy some leftovers for lunch.
Looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.
Love the atmosphere in there as well. Felt like I was transported to India.

Excellent option for those looking for a quick meal, fair prices and quality.
Very well located, super cool decor, themed background music, this restaurant is located in the center of Asheville.
Outdoor and indoor tables, orders placed directly at the counter with very friendly service.
Very well trained staff, always attentive to cleaning tables and replacing utensils.
Very fair prices, very well served portions.

Absolutely delicious and so simple. The service was incredible and all the staff was so friendly and kind. The food came out so quickly and was some of the best Indian food I’ve had. Everything was very fresh and clearly made with thought, time, and love. I had the iced chai and the Malai Chicken Tikka Roll. The chai was sweet and smooth, so good I bought their mix immediately after finishing it. The Malai chicken was perfectly marinated and the naan it was wrapped in was light fluffy and delicious. I also love the white and green sauces that came with, they complemented everything perfectly. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while and will be returning

If you ever want to experience true Indian street food, this is your place. If you’re looking for something not spicy, go for the malai chicken.
Warning: eating here is a full body experience. Prepare for a feast of the senses! The sights, the scents, the sounds, the service, and of course, the sensational flavors.
