We sat at the bar and the bartender Wes was top notch. Very personable, remembered our names when we came back in because we left a bag. Great experience and I highly recommend.
We just loved our visit to Carmels!! We sat outside on what was an incredibly warm afternoon.... Loved the music and the vibe from the downtown Asheville location. Our server was fantastic ~ we were impressed with the culinary offerings as well!! You have to try Carmels when visiting the Asheville area... you will not be disappointed!!!
Food is excellent. I had the crab cakes and my date had the salmon, we both enjoyed our meals immensely. We have never been disappointed eating at Carmel's. Great recommend desert! And we always seem to get the best waitstaff! You won't go wrong coming here.
Had a great time! They were out of something and they did everything they could to make it right, which was wonderful.
We arrived at our reservation time, 6:30 PM, on a Saturday night. When we began ordering our drinks, we were told that they were out of two of the ingredients for one of their specialty cocktails, and out of Maker's Mark bourbon! When we began ordering our entrées, we were told that they had none of the specials available anymore, and that was a little before 7 PM Also, when I unwrapped my silverware from the paper napkin, the knife had not been washed, with food stuck on it.
I cannot express how wonderful our experience was at Carmel’s! Wandering around Asheville trying to find a child-friendly lunch option for myself and my seven year old on Halloween, an amazing staff member (dressed in an adorable mime costume!) brought my little one candy and then encouraged us to come in! Our server was so wonderful, accommodating my little one with the “best fried chicken I’ve ever had!” and wonderful fries! Everything from the cornbread skillet to the lemon tart was amazing! We will definitely plan on stopping by every time we’re in the area!
Our server was amazing (hopefully she finds a better place to work soon) but rest of the staff was not friendly. Cold soup, sloppy blt with almost no bacon, but deviled eggs were very good.
The steak special was more akin to a boiled steak, rather than broiled. And it was well done not medium rare as requested. Server was nice if inattentive. Crab cake was meh. Cornbread skillet was not good at all. Not bad food but not a place for upscale dining at all.
The first time we went, we did lunch. This time we had dinner. Both were wonderful! Staff is friendly and fun. Great location in the heart of downtown shops. Well worth the visit.
Delicious pimento cheese and pretzel appetizer. Generous wine pour. Excellent service. Nice to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

It was just ok...food was fine, but we were a bit of an afterthought...they were busy, but still could have done better
The food was excellent. I had the salmon and my husband had the hanger steak. I would highly recommend either dish.
Standing waiting to speak with the hostess, trying to get a table, rude waiter said “we DO work here”. Extremely rude atmosphere.
excellent casual bistro, all our food was delicious, unpretentious staff and service was friendly - made the evening even more enjoyable
Cozy little place to enjoy a nice meal with friends. It has the best pimento cheese. You can find this place in a cozy little shopping center called the Grove arcade. It’s a nice place to check out.
