They’ve gotten pretty darn inconsistent.
We always order the same thing (the Singapore chow mei fun). This time, there was hardly any curry. You can see from the lightness of the noodles on the photo. Also it wasn’t spicy at all. Sometimes there’s far too much curry. Sometimes the curry isn’t even stirred into it and it’s just left in big clumps.
Also please note that my son ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken without the sweet-and-sour sauce, and you can see from this photo how overly breaded and fried the chicken is. When the chicken is in the sauce it has a lot more opportunity to hide how over-breaded it is, but without the sauce, you can see that it’s really over-fried and has a lot of batter.
This used to be our go-to place, for years and years and years, but recently they increased the prices; my Singapore chow mei fun was almost $19. And I understand when prices went up after Covid, but if you’re going to charge $19, I’d like to have a little bit more consistency with the quality. I am fine paying $19 for good Singapore chow mei fun that is correctly spiced, but not when sometimes it’s overspiced, sometimes it’s underspiced, sometimes the spice is clumped and sometimes there’s hardly any spice at all.
We want to like this restaurant again! We want to go back. We live nearby and we want to make this our regular to-go Chinese restaurant. So I hope that if the owners are reading this, they will take this as constructive criticism and examine the consistency of their dishes. Also, the sweet-and-sour chicken could do with less breading and more chicken.
Said with hopes of improvement!

Unfortunately the food might be the best “chinese” food around, but service is aweful, nobody cares about you, and the price is out of control. Agree with another review, they are running a scam. Terribly terribly shameful.

I travel for work, and I needed quick fast food. A local in the area recommended this place:
My 1st visit I got FRIED CHICKEN WINGS w/lo mein WITH an order of Wong tongs we ordered the food then picked up. FOOD WAS COLD (thats why I do not pre order food) the noodles were burnt!!! This was around 8pm food was $28 and some odd change.
The NEXT TIME I ORDERD I got ONLY fried chicken and Wong tongs, this time I walked in place my order and picked up! Food was amazing! It was about $18 and some change.
Chicken is always good when it’s hot and fresh. I would recommend this place however not the lo mein & I would suggest you order inside if you want hot food!

Got just broccoli and beef combo for 19.00 and didn’t get the fried rice or egg roll or soda and was told they would give me a 3.00 credit for next time ? after all said and done I paid 28.00 for broccoli/beef and they couldn’t care less!! Never do Uber eats because they didn’t give a crap either and what makes this funny is that this is the first time I’ve ever ordered from Uber eats ?. Never again this restaurant is running a scam

Been going here since 2012. Proper Chinese takeout food. No pretentiousness, no song and dance, not bank-breaking. Never had a bad dish here.

Nothing fancy. Wouldn’t eat in. Very fast turnaround. Food was mediocre at best. So far I think China Taste in WAVL is the “best” Chinese food/takeout in the area but that ain’t saying much. Asheville DESPERATELY needs a solid Chinese restaurant. Red Ginger too high end and Shanghai Dumpling House a bit pricey and neither standard Chinese cuisine. Portions generous but food itself wasn’t so good.

I ordered the honey chicken. It was absolutely awful. It was breaded chicken like the sweet and sour chicken. But felt and tasted like it had been soaking in water the past hour. It was mushy. Hardly any chicken in the bread.

I can say that one pint is enough for 2 people, if you don't eat much.

My partner and I ordered egg rolls, wonton soup, General Tsao chicken, and Mushu vegetable pancakes. We are quite particular about food, but both agreed that each dish was exceptional, cooked well and extremely tasty. We will definitely be adding China Wok to our list of favorites! Extra star for being open Christmas Day!
