We really enjoyed our dining experience. We had our order delivered to Archetype Brewing next door which was a neat concept! We ordered the dumplings, veggie spring rolls, and the basil eggplant. Though all were delicious, the eggplant was extremely savory and a side of rice would have really complimented the dish and allowed the full flavor of the sauce to be absorbed. We’ll definitely try this spot again. :)

Excellent option if you are vegan and craving something good! With both indoor and outdoor seating, a quite atmosphere, and kind service, I would definitely recommend giving Gan Shan a try. (P.S. if you are a pickle fanatic, try their pickles)

Stumbled upon this cute spot and was pleasantly surprised! We started with the pork dumplings, they were good but could have used a little more chili oil. For our entrees we shared the general tsos chicken and the curry fried rice. Both were fantastic! Lots of flavor. Also, they are currently donating funds to the Texas flood victims with every purchase of Bushido sake. We will absolutely be back!

Unfortunately with the new ownership, Gan Shan just isn’t the same quality as it used to be. The egg rolls are much smaller, taste like they are store bought, and the General Tso’s chicken was slightly disappointing. Whatever changes they made under new ownership is just not it, in my opinion. Sadly won’t be going back, which is a huge bummer.

This place is the real deal. I came back a second time and we tried the spring rolls — honestly, some of the best I’ve ever had. We also shared the General Tso’s chicken, spicy beef ramen, and fried rice — everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. On my first visit, I ordered the GSW Rice Bowl and loaded it up with Korean BBQ pork, sweet soy, mayo, chili oil, peanuts, roasted eggplant, kimchi, pickled broccoli stems, carrot daikon serrano pickles, and bread and butter pickles. It was so good I knew I’d be returning soon.
I don't normally leave reviews but this place deserves it.
You read the reviews and most people speak very highly of the staff. I couldn't speak more highly of one staff member, Skye. She was super helpful through my first visit and put me on the right dish, the General Tso chicken. This dish is on point in every way. The rice is cooked perfectly. It's surprising how hard that is for most people to pull this off. The broccoli is perfectly cooked, not too crunchy not, too soft. And the General Tso chicken is on point. It's the bomb!
Plus you get your food delivered to the brewery next door. A great meal with a great beer and in a great setting. Indoors or patios outdoors, I couldn't recommend it more.

Amazing place to eat, was driving to and back from Tennessee and we had our first meal when driving towards and another when driving back, must have when just driving by. 10/10

I went last week and whoa, I got the GSW bowl and the portion was small. I got a meager layer of rice. The quality is waivering.
Can you address this?
I really don't want my favorite place to decline.
Thank you.

Oh Gan Shan, what can I say. You make me all umami. I was introduced to your GSW Bowl by a new coworker last spring and since then you've become my favorite take-out restaurant in Asheville.
Sometimes in a Monday slump my mouth waters and I quickly realize y'all aren't open - so I whip up a plate of food inspired by you, await the next day, and hope you're enjoying the day off. ❣️
Everytime I show a pal, the same thing happens. Your holiday dinner was inspiring and your consistent dedication to creating the tastiest, most curated dishes is a delight to the senses! I'd be lost with out your perfectly pickled veggies.
Faithfully Yours,
Ernie
First time there! We got the seasonal ramen and general tsos chicken. Everything was delicious. Will absolutely be back!! Service was fantastic, seating inside was limited but the togos seemed to be handled smoothly.
A favorite West Asheville go-to!
Great quality for a fair price - try it if you haven’t!
Best every time! Yum!!!!!
