I highly recommend the sweet potato cabbage pancake. It was amazingly delicious. Not entirely vegan because it contains buttermilk. Can be made GF.

Amazing food and good people. Asheville needs this place, it’s rooted in fresh flavors and identity. It felt like home. Ambiance is top tier and well curated, visit the bathroom before you go!

Well the fish was hot BUT as far good it did not live up to its hype. Idk I’m from the south so fried fish is a delicacy and maybe we are heavier critics 🤷🏾♀️. My husband had the $36.00 sea bass that was LOADED with bones and not meaty. My $28.00 blacken trout was not the full filet fish just one side and although it was blacken it somehow was still lacked flavor . The mac and cheese was decent but the greens tasted like they came out of a can ???

The fries were the best part of the meal and that’s not a compliment. Fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The fried fish was beyond greasy; I was removing the batter just to eat the meat which then wasn’t seasoned so I was relying on the malt vinegar for flavor. The sweet potato pancake sounded interesting but had zero sweet potato flavor. It tasted like a corn pancake with stringy cabbage in it and there was a heavy drizzle of mayo based sauce on top. Hubs doesn’t do mayo so I was trying to eat it but it was just heavyyyy and it’s $15 for a vegetarian dish?? Our 15 month old liked the mac and cheese…. There are many better restaurants that are better priced in the area. Skip!

Limited menu , a few counter stools uncomfortable seating, way overpriced , tasty food .Seems owner is trying to capitalize on her T V exposure which works to get people in the door , once .

Go get you some fish! The chef is a James Beard award winner, Vivian Howard apprentice and Top Chef alum and Times top 100 next list - no wonder the food is exceptional. I had catfish plate, fries and a sweet potato cabbage pancake. Everything was exceptional including the Capn Crik and tartar sauce. If you want a cheap fish better go to Captain D’s this isn’t that in the best possible way.

Great little place. Absolutely a hidden gem. They have a few gluten free options but no dedicated fryer.

I’m visiting from ATL w/ my BF who’s an Asheville native and we were looking online to find a place to eat and this place has really good reviews so we stopped in. The fish was good, seasoned well, and cooked nicely however they only give you 1 piece of fish for $25!!! You get 2 sides. The greens were pretty good and the Mac and cheese was just ok. It’s like stove top Mac with cheese melted on top. I don’t know if this place is so hyped in the reviews bc that’s just what they’re used to in Asheville or bc these people just don’t have anything else to compare it to but I’ve definitely had better at a much more reasonable price. If you’re gonna give me one piece of fish I better be blown away by everything on my plate 🤷🏽♀️ so all and all Good Hot Fish was just that, good but not GREAT for the price.

Man… you have to stop by! We had fresh flounder and the hot fish dip! The Mac and cheese, twister fries, pickles and saltines are great accompaniments.

Wow!! This place is incredible! The service was great, they explained the whole menu to us and made great recommendations. We got the trout salmon and good hot fish sandwich, as well as the special; CRAB FRIES! Everything came out fast and HOT. It was delicious! We are so happy we went here for lunch! Watching the staff work like a well oiled machine was amazing. They really have this place dialed in. The music and atmosphere was also fun and energetic. Thank you for a great meal Good Hot Fish!! We will definitely be back

Yum!!! Asheville is seriously lacking when it comes to good food that has SEASONING & FLAVOR, but Good Hot Fish is different. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and crispy. It’s a big portion and the sides were great too. They sweet tea was delicious. Friendly & fast service and fun atmosphere (I’m also very glad to see a restaurant that isn’t owned & run by white people in this town lol) check this place out you won’t regret it!

After seeing the many reviews and content I saw, I knew I had to stop by! There wasn’t a wait, but was greeted and placed my order in no time! Although they appeared busy, it didn’t take long to receive my order.
I ordered the catfish, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. I was upset it was just one piece of fish, but I was over it after 5 seconds, EVERYTHING was amazing! The Mac and cheese was perfect and I normally don’t eat everyone’s collard greens, but these were perfect!!!
I would definitely recommend everyone to come and eat here! I can tell that others enjoyed their meals, it was quiet and people were scraping plates.

Best breaded fish I've eaten in a very long time. Sides were great (especially mac-and-cheese).
