I was looking for Just a little snack. This was perfect. I got a delicious flavor-intense tomato basil soup and lemon-basil potato salad which was redskin potatoes skin-on, basil not overwhelming, just the right lemon. You order at the counter and get your own utensils and condiments. It looks to be an old converted house and aesthetically it does need a facelift. Music was cool and not too loud. Staff were friendly. I’ll be back here for sure… an unpretentious casual place with a creative menu is just what I was looking for today.
We were driving through North Carolina and stopped at Homegrown for lunch. Homegrown was a standout. Staff were on point and very friendly.
I tried the chicken sandwich, and it was amazing. Heavily seasoned with fresh toppings. The fries were also good.
The vibe was immaculate.

had chickpea salad wrap. they didn't mash the chickpeas. that's a given when making it. they did substitute lettuce and tom for Asian slaw and sprouts. partner had catfish poboy which he liked. huge! peach decaf tea seemed watered down . place is extremely rustic. beware. just ok.

Got the buttermilk chicken sammich, which was delicious and crunchy. The home fries were light and fluffy too.

Man I love Homegrown! These days, it's like an Asheville institution. The faces are familiar, the waitstaff often wears clothing from defunct old school Asheville dive bars... I recognize these folks. So grateful Homegrown is still kicking out delicious food that I can afford!

Such a wonderful place. Growing up in Asheville, I feel like this is such a slice of everything I love about this town. I cannot stress how absolutely delicious everything we've had from here has been. If you find yourself in North Asheville you've got to stop in.

We almost didn't stop here, but boy are we glad we did! We were a party of 3 (with a picky 8 year old) and everyone loved their meals. I had the fish cakes, mother in law had the buttermilk chicken with mushroom gravy, and daughter had the chefs special mushroom pasta. We would highly recommend any of these dishes. We all tried each other's meals and agreed they were all delicious! Don't let the outside fool you, this place has great food and service. Would definitely come back if in the area.

Great Southern food in a cool spot. I wish the catfish plate had a bit more catfish on it, but it was delicious nonetheless.

The team at Homegrown was outstanding, answering questions regarding the menu and briskly taking our order at the counter. When my wife ordered her dessert they offered the opportunity to pay then and they would wait to prepare it until they saw we were almost done with our meal. The only downside to the restaurant is the relatively limited seating (they clearly have a very large and devoted “carry-out” regulars crowd). Luckily the weather was cooperating and we were able to find a table in their small outdoor area. Great food and totally worth a visit.
Parking: Parking in front is extremely limited but there is a small lot behind the restaurant.

I pass Homegrown every day going to and from work but have never been a patron. I finally tried it today by ordering takeout for lunch and wow. The tofu bbq sandwich with a side of sesame kale is absolutely beyond expectations, I will be returning as a regular here from now on. Additionally, the Host at the order station working 8/19 between 1-1:20pm displayed fantastic customer service abilities and had a wonderful demeanor. 10/10 experience today
