Absolutely wonderful in all respects. One of the very best restaurants in a town rich in very good restaurants.

Food was good and atmosphere was nice but we made reservations stating it was a special occasion and then got sat next to the POS machines. No acknowledgment that it was a major anniversary. There were other tables available so I’m disappointed we were given one of the worst. If you go then get the pan con tomate

I visited this establishment before the end of my Asheville trip. While the food, service, and atmosphere were all good, the reason for downgrading a star is because of perceived value of the food. I'm a smaller individual who ordered 3 small dishes and spent ~$50 yet did not leave feeling satiated. I can only imagine someone with a hearty appetite. I was also charged $2 for a suggested hot sauce to add a bit of "heat" to my gaspacho. Had I known I'd be charged $2, I would have passed. A customer should be advised in that instance if there'd be an additional charge. I was also surprised at their prices of $13 for desserts. I've lived in San Francisco and Denver so have experienced a wide range of restaurants hence my comments about perceived value.

Food is terrible, not even close to the Spanish cuisine. American style deep fry potatoes

I just spent a week in Spain, and I've been dying for tapas. Last night was my first time at La Bodega, and it was absolutely amazing. I shared several tapas with a friend and everything was delicious. Our server was friendly and helpful with suggestions, the ambiance is great, and there's parking. 10/10 cannot wait to go back.

I highly recommend the staples: patatas brava, pan con tomate, sherried mushrooms with a poached egg, and the mac and cheese.

Groundhog Day

The first night I was in Asheville, I ate at Curate and just loved it. I grew up in Spain and it was a bit of a nostalgic tour. First, the gazpacho was inspired-smooth, garlicky and crunchy. The clams were swimming in a delicious herb sauce and the pimentos were superb. I spent the rest of my stay more out of town than in town so I didn’t get the chance to try the sister restaurant Bodega. Then, my flight got cancelled, I missed the next one and for two more days, I was back in Asheville. having left once, I felt like I was in a scene from Groundhog Day. I had a chance to do anything and everything I wanted. I decided try Bodega. First, I had breakfast. I think that I had the best croissant that I’ve ever had outside of France. In my opinion, one third of a croissant should be in your mouth, one third on the plate and one third on your lap.
Since I was stuck, my next meals revolved around eating through the menu: I had the gazpacho again and again. The typical description of gazpacho as a cold soup is like saying that cheese is just spoiled milk. The salad was edible poetry. I had both the boquerones and pescadito frito. I couldn’t decide if fish would decide to be pickled in garlic or deep fried whole in a light batter where the heads yield to a satisfying crunch. Both were perfect for a warm day.
The service was impeccable. Everyone who worked there from the GM to the bartender was effusive and enthusiastic about the food and the restaurant.
At 7am the next morning, I got a flight out. Sadly, my path to redemption was done. I was going home.

In our first visit to Ashville, my wife and decided to go to La Bodega. We showed up early for our reservation and the hostess seated us immediately. The food was absolutely phenomenonal. The Oxtail tapas were delectable and the paired wine chosen by the serving team only enhanced the experience. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and even offered insight on other hidden gems in Ashville. Would absolutely recommend and will probably be going back before we leave ??

Went with friends for dinner. Great food! Great service! And because it is tapas, we left not feeling overly stuffed. I would not hesitate to visit anytime with anyone.
