Had the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten at Mayfel's this past summer.

We patroned May of '24.

The overall appeal is simply southern in the French Quarter. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was welcoming. We had the pleasure of speaking with the Chef and getting a sample of the upcoming seasonal menu. Five stars is a max but it honestly deserves more. The Chef was very receptive to our input and just provided an amazing experience all around along with the rest of the staff. Mayfel's will always be on our To-Do list when in Asheville.

Good eggs benedict, on toast instead of muffin. I like that they offer donating a side to Manna Cafe. Took awhile for our food but our server was great!

The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Our server gave great recommendations for food and drinks. The Bloody Mary was amazing! Love the outdoor seating! This was our first visit here, and we will definitely go back!

OH DEAR GOD!!!!! I’m in disbelief. This is the first delicious meal I’ve had that I don’t want to finish (cause then it’d be gone). If you haven’t eaten here you haven’t lived yet. I got the chicken and waffles and the holy trinity gravy just changed my life forever. When I come back to this city this is the FIRST place I’m coming.

The beignets are hot fresh and deliciously gooey. I only ordered a plate of biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were good but there was gravy missing, kinda dry. The rest of my party’s plates looked really good and so I would give this establishment another try.

Eh. Food was good. We had the traditional Benedict and a breakfast board thing. The presentation was really nice. The plates looked very good when they came out. I forgot pictures. Service was very slow, but they only had like 2 servers and it was coming up on brunch time and the place was getting busy. Not somewhere I'd rush back to, but it was nice.

My husband and I visited Mayfel’s based on our son’s recommendation. We love New Orleans food and were very excited to try it out! My husband chose the shrimp and grits and I had the Muffaletta sandwich with fried okra and French fries. It was delicious! The shrimp and grits could have used more seasoning to boost the flavor, but it was still very tasty! The Muffaletta was fantastic! I am a huge fan of the Central Grocery Muffaletta in New Orleans, and I must say that the Mayfel’s Muffaletta did not disappoint! It was put in a panini press, so the bread was crisp and warm. So good! The fried okra was fantastic! It was not premade frozen okra, it was homemade delicious! The French fries were also crisp and delicious! We also got 2 beignets to go for dessert. They were very good!

We were there around 2:00pm on a Monday, and finding parking was a bit of an issue since we were not familiar with the area. We ended up at a public parking lot that was only about 2 blocks away. It costs us around $9.00 to park and the payment was done online. There were several homeless people hanging around near the parking area and some along the sidewalk. We would not recommend being out after dark in this area.
