December 30th, 2025: We had the most nice experience, and it was all thanks to our server! A group of 7 of us went out for very late lunch lunch, but it became dinner, and experience is above, and beyond to make sure our night was perfect. The staff was so kind, respectful, and attentive, checking on us frequently and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were amazing, and the atmosphere was fantastic—but what truly made the evening unforgettable was staff. The place brought such positive energy and made our entire group feel so well cared for. If I could rate 4+ stars, I would. We had 2 Cuban Sandwiches, comes with chips, we also shared a Mac&Cheese between my wife, and me; Our two daughters shared 1 pot roast, a brisket with mac&cheese; our grand son had the ribeye steak, my son in law had a steak sandwich, my granddaughter had chicken tenders with french fries! We shared a dessert, and got one to go! In general—it made our late lunch truly unforgettable. The Brackett - Barrios Families GBB
4 of us about 3 pm on 12/26/25. Food was average at best. Waited inordinate amount of time for everything from drinks, to appetizers to main course (which for 3 of us was soup...how long can that take?!). Food runners were surly/rude. Server did his best amid what is obviously a poorly run kitchen. Location & history must be only reasons for good reviews because the ignominiously average Applebee's would have been better food and service by 100%.
Had *hot honey chicken sandwich. Maybe the hot signifies it reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Certainly wasn’t spicy in any way. Also ordered a double smash burger with bacon. It arrived without bacon …solution? “We won’t charge you for the bacon. “ Thanks, not charging me for something I didn’t receive is always considered a solid. Better yet, comp a dessert or a drink? While I liked the vibe, I feel 4 stars is being plenty generous.
We love this place and eat here anytime we are in Asheville. The food is consistently good with large portions. The staff are friendly and efficient. My husband always orders the brisket Mac and cheese. I had the Cobb salad which was enormous.
Pack’s Tavern was an excellent choice for a meal after walking around the Biltmore all day. We started with a couple of craft beers with a Porter for myself and a flight of 4 different drafts which were excellent. It was their “Light Flight” . A pils, blonde, lager and a white. Dinner was a bowl of French Onion soup with toasted crouton and a melty broiled cheese 🫕. We split a Fish BLT that was nice sized serving. Very good. Service was excellent. The Cavs were on the screens. A very nice impression!
I am new to Asheville and brought my mom, two aunts and cousin to visit. We chose to eat here on a whim. It was a busy Saturday with a long wait and several things happening in the area. My aunt us genuinely severely allergic to gluten. The options for her weren't super extensive, but they offer a gluten free bun and several other options. Our server seemed new and I noticed had been double sat. She was awesome, despite both. We had lots of questions and she didn't know all the answers but she had a great attitude and was accommodating. The manager came to help her out since it was so busy. My aunt had mentioned she was allergic to gluten, chose a gluten free salad, and just asked our server to make note not to add croutons. The Manger came over and assured us he was clearing a space in rhe back to prepare her food so it would be fully uncontaminated. We didn't ask for this, but he was proactive about it. One salad came with rhe wrong protein, no biggie, we said we'd keep it. He offered to have a side of salmon made or the entire salad replaced despite us assuring him it was OK. he then comped the entire salad, not just the protein we missed. We were running out of time on our parking meter so we canceled some drinks we had ordered earlier. The bartender has already made them and the manager not only brought them to us anyway but then comped them from our bill. Literally couldn't have asked for a better experience or nicer staff.
Busy place for a good reason. Excellent food and drink. Highly recommend the Pot Roast. Like I said it’s busy place and they work hard to keep it moving. Great bar and bartenders with a smile. Any complaints are quickly handled by great manager.
The food and atmosphere were absolutely amazing. The staff were wonderful and we had great service! Recommend the Thai salad and Elote dip appetizer! So good! Definitely a must see if you are visiting Asheville!
We planned on going to one of the several breweries while staying over one night in Ashville. The one's considered only had food trucks afor dining alternatives. We are not food truck people, and after a short search we found Packs Tavern convenient and to our tastes. Our excellent waiter, Elise, was most helpful in finding local brews that Pack's offers. Superb light lagers refreshed after a long day's drive. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Low Life Lavender from the bar. The wood fired pizza and the Caesar salad were both delicious. A pleasant surprise and a memorable tavern in a beautiful town.
This crowded tavern provided a fun atmosphere over Labor Day weekend. Although the wait was over an hour, we were able to find two seats at the bar. The service was pretty timely considering the amount of patrons in the establishment. They have a wide variety of tap beers as well as flights. I had a mushroom Swiss burger that was juicy and very tasty. The fries were so good that we got an additional order. I would definitely come back the next time. I’m in Asheville to try one of their macaroni and cheese, specialty dinners.

The food was fresh and delicious! We had the chicken tenders and the Cubano sandwich. Good local beer selection. Jackie was a wonderful server! We will definitely be back!
Good comfort food n good beer selection But was out of mashed potatoes Really Service was good n waiter knew his beers to help with selection
Second time to Asheville and we made it a must to stop in on our short night stay since last visit was 20' w C19. Though we just left TLT and ate a ton we still ordered FGT and a pie despite being beyond full cause we wanted to try it again. 10/10 for food and staff, so glad we walked down.
I would have given a score of 5 however we went there 2 days while on vacation and they were vastly different. Day 1 everything good, Day 2 disappointing. We ordered the same Elote Corn Dip both times..Day2 the dish was missing the beans. Day2 we sat quite some time before anyone recognized we were waiting, my husband has too find someone. Then we had 3 different servers, 1 we believed was the manager. Maybe it was change of shifts. Anyway the inconsistency of the service and dip was unacceptable!
What a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends and enjoy a wonderful meal. The atmosphere is amazing. I would highly suggest you add this to your list of things to do when you are visiting Asheville.
