PennyCup is my favorite Asheville coffee roaster. They have four locations including where they roast. Each of the PennyCup coffee shops have a different vibe. This North location is the least enjoyable. There is nothing special about it. * customer service really does not exist beyond the making of espresso drinks. * The baristas tend to be passionless and dull. * atmosphere is uninspired.
Why do they serve 12oz lattes in 10oz cups? None of the other PennyCup locations do this. Why not call it a 10oz drink and charge for that instead of charing for 12oz. And let the customer know they will be getting 10oz when they are ordering 12.
When ordering the same drink twice on different occasions by the same barista, his answer was simply “that’s what we do.”

The food and coffee is amazing. The absolute best thing though is the service. Every time I’m here I’m treated like a friend rather than just a customer. It’s easy to feel comfortable here, the atmosphere and staff have an amazing energy. They go out of their way to engage with my 5 year old who absolutely loves the staff and the hot chocolate.
Kid-friendliness: Super kid friendly. Went out of their way to engage with her and make our daughter feel comfortable and happy. My daughter looks forward to going all week just to see her favorite staff.
