My friend and I had a longstanding tradition to celebrate our shared May birthday there each year, but this year when the owner refused to honor our 15% off birthday coupons (which we both were emailed that month by the restaurant, just like every year), we decided it was the last time we’d eat there. I later learned from their waitstaff that others have had the same experience. We were so disappointed, because for both my friend and me, Red Ginger was a place we loved to tell people about, take out of town guests, and celebrate special occasions. I’m sad because I really love their food.

i ordered the eggplant and it was good, lots of veggie options. maybe not the most filling but it's probably better if you're sharing different dishes with the group.

Delicious menu items, I opted for the Hot & Sour soup with the vegetarian dumplings, fried rice, edamame, tuna tataki and chicken wings. They were all good options and it is the type of restaurant you can buy and split among the table. My kids really enjoyed it too.

Delish! I love dim sum so much and our other option in Asheville was closed so a store owner recommended this place. Clean. Simple. Quality food!

Red Ginger is in my permanent NO list. Who serves chicken and beef dishes without rice???

We ordered take out & of course by the time we cooked our own rice everything was cold. Neither dish was good anyway (flavorless) and the pot stickers were grocery store freezer section quality.

If I want crappy Asian food I'll get Panda Express for half the cost and that'll include rice.

We are frequent diners of Red Ginger since 2020 as it came highly recommended! I bring my service dog with me each time and not once has it been an issue. My wife is a long time lover of Asian cuisine & Red Ginger is actually where I found a like for it. I actually love everything I have had including the Dan Dan noodles, string beans, scallion pancake & dumplings. Five years, a pandemic, and a hurricane later the food is still outstanding.

Two weeks ago we had an unfortunate incident happen. We walked in (with my service dog) was seated, given menu’s and waters. Moments after, we were approached by the woman who sat us asking if we would move our table because “a larger table was available outside for us” I was confused because we didn’t request a large table nor did we request a table outside. My wife declined. While it wasn’t verbally stated, one can put the puzzle pieces together.

While Red Ginger may have played this “smart” they knew they couldn’t legally ask us to move outside. We were still made to feel very uncomfortable in a place where we once felt safe & comfortable coming to.

The food here is not authentic or even close to authentic Chinese cuisine,it feels more like a fusion. Most dishes were overwhelmingly sweet, which may not appeal to those accustomed to traditional Asian flavors.

We ordered hot and sour soup, wonton soup, and spicy chicken, but the chicken was noticeably sweet rather than spicy. The menu mentioned Sichuan pepper, yet there was no noticeable numbing or spicy effect. The shumai was decent, but the rest of the dishes didn’t taste fresh. On top of that, they forgot our drinks.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Cute spot in downtown Asheville. Our server was very helpful and super friendly. The food was good but nothing to write home about. If you’re in Asheville, I’d say try somewhere else instead.

This place is over priced for the amount of food you get.

Absolutely terrible! Went there with really high hopes of getting some decent Chinese food and was very disappointed.

Clean and tasty, except the duck noodle soup is not served with scallion as advertised, and it uses the same broth that cooks the dumplings. Not gluten free. Four slices of duck in a bowl half filled with noodles, bok choy, and broth.

Went on a Wednesday lunchtime. We got seated right away, the waitress was gracious and helpful. I love how the restaurant is decorated, a calming, elevated, atmosphere. I had the Szechuan Wonton and Shrimp & Chive Dumplings. Both were delicious. I also ordered the same menu items for delivery the next day.

Parking: there are a couple of open, for fee, lots within a 3min walk, or you may get very lucky and park in front of the restaurant
