Our server, Cody, was great. Very welcoming and made sure our vist to the Sunset Terrace AND the Grove Park as a whole was perfect. No better views on the property.
I was worried if the restaurant would be worth the money.... And I will tell you that YES it was an excellent experience from the atmosphere, food and exceptional service provided by Michael! Not only do we want to come back but now we want to stay at the Inn when we come back ! The decorated Christmas trees were so beautiful and added something special to an already fabulous view.
Amazing, our waiter was the best. The food was very good and the views were breathtaking. Definitely I will have to come back.
Had a great experience at Sunset Terrace! My husband and I went for an anniversary dinner. Never been to a more romantic restaurant with beautiful views. The food, drinks and service were all top notch!
The scenery is unmatched. They keep the patio warm enough for comfort. The service is amazing and not stuff. Our waitress Erin was a doll.
We have wanted to experience the Sunset Terrace for years and took advantage when we had a visitor in town. Upon being seated at our table, one member of the party noticed there was pasta and other food along with a used water bottle under the table, which was not a good first impression. Food was generally OK, but our server was abrupt, forgot one person's ordered drink and to separate checks, and was otherwise inattentive.
Great location with views of the mountains and the sunset. Temperature is controlled with outdoor heaters so we were comfortable even after sunset. The food was excellent even though it took 3 tries to get a rare steak. Our server, Alex, was great and very accommodating as well as the manager who quickly got involved to ensure food was cooked to our satisfaction. They recognized our special occasion with champagne and dessert. Overall, an excellent experience though pricey!
Just got married and we were celebrating at The Grove Park Inn. The Sunset Terrace is one of the dining options on the property and is popular for the view. Well, it is so much more than a view. My wife and I had reservations for two at Sunset Terrace. We were greeted promptly and seated straight away. And yes the views are breathtaking. But, the experience was just beginning. Our server, Erin comes over with a big smile and tells us she is our waitress and begins to engage with us in the most genuine and authentic way. She asked us questions and told us stories and offered personal insights on the menu options with recommendations. She guided us through one of the best dining experiences we have ever had due to her engaging and attentive personality. Now let’s get to the food: to start we ordered the shrimp cocktail and French onion soup. The shrimp were huge and came with 2 dipping sauces. The French onion soup was cheese, gooey and delicious. We then ordered the spring chicken and substituted brussel sprouts for glazed carrots and a filet topped with crab and horseradish cream. Both entrees were delicious and good portion sizes. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and melted in your mouth. Erin brought us a congratulations chocolate cake slice to acknowledge our new marital status; which was decadent. We then ordered the bourbon pecan trifle and the strawberry hibiscus cheesecake. Both were layered with flavor and a nice finish to the meal. It was a little chilly and Erin brought us some throws and wrapped our shoulders. Her and Linden checked on us often and ensured we were enjoying the food and the entire experience. Erin took pictures of us and was so charming and fun. She truly made our night into a complete experience. We would come back to The Grove Park Inn just to see Erin and her incredible service again. This young lady is a hidden gem in a magnificent property and we will never forget this amazing night. Enjoy!
The view and hotel lobby are worth the visit. But the $40 valet charge or $30 self park fee is outrageous. Our hostess had a negative attitude when I asked if we could change to a different table. There were numerous tables available so I did not think the request was unreasonable. But certainly did not set a positive tone for first impressions. Food was good, but nothing remarkable. I wish the experience had been more welcoming.
Wonderful restaurant with one of a kind views of the mountains and the sunset in the evening.

Perfect location for an evening watching the sunset. The food was very good and the service was excellent!
Really nice view. Difficult to get a reservation. Reasonable service. Over the top pricing. 8 oz filet is $80 with no sides. Other steaks were $75, $100 and $105. Vegetables are $12 although large enough to share. Least expensive glass of wine were $16 for 6 oz and the signature cocktails were $24 to $30.
One of the most beautiful restaurant settings in my opinion! A very special occassion dining experience.
The view is the start of a fabulous experience followed by drinks and food. Always a go to for lunch with visitors or when I just need to chill. Don't forget to tour the Inn and grounds (adds more to the fabulous). A must for visitors and resident of Asheville!
