Food was great, absolutely no complaints. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the service was great. The atmosphere is very welcoming. And being able to see the chefs cook is a nice touch.

While sitting at the bar overlooking the chefs, I ordered the lamb. I heard the order go in “solo lamb order”.
The chef looked at the lamb and said to someone who was bringing food from downstairs/back - “I need more lamb, and even this piece doesn’t look good”. At worst, I wouldn’t expect this comment to be made where clients can hear. At best I would’ve expected the chef to acknowledge this wasn’t the best piece/size to give to a customer and to let the customer wait and get the proper cut and portion. Instead it was prepared and served, rather disappointing.
The highlight of the service was the waitstaff who was very friendly.

A rare and special neighborhood gem doing everything right. Tall John’s makes the beef tartare I’ve ever had, with incredible balance and respect shown to every ingredient (even the parsley!). Perfect, textbook martini so cold it gave me goosebumps (amateur photo provided here). Bullseye of a wine recommendation from the bar team, and exceptional service from wire to wire. Can’t wait to return.

Greatly enjoyed the tuna, chicken, cocktails and bread pudding, but the star of the evening was the winter squash! Right, as if that's an exciting dish, but I always keep an eye out for the unassuming veg dish and the squash did not disappoint. Chef really put some heart behind it and was a beautifully balanced, perfectly cooked experience in seasonal produce.

Very nice venue, staff is amazing, knowledgble cordial welcoming and accommodating. I arrived after failing to successfully make reservations on line somehow and still got seated with a party of 3. The hostess was completely cool about it and managed to fit us in despite The line being some 30 people deep. The menu was very broad in depth and scale accommodating large appetites, specific dietary desires, quick savorings, and well suggested pairings with the expansive wine beer and liquor list: The latter being an extensive wine and liquor / beer selection from regional and local craft selections to far reaching global offerings. All of this occurs at reasonable price in a well appointed and tastefully decorated relaxed upretentious atmosphere. The wait staff was very very welcoming, knew the menu cold, had good knowledge of the dishes, and recommended well, also noting any thing from our choices that may have caused a dietary or food-philisophical or ethical concern in its consumption.
I would go with a solid 5 star review save for the seating proximity was a bit tight for my preferences. Not a real concern, but that would be the only thing. Just seemed to have someone always walking past me throughout with tight clearance.
Overall an excellentvalue, and I would like to return again and try some other menu items and enjoy their hospitality.
