Great venue for small intimate shows!
Small, intimate venue, with a great smoking patio and awesome food!
The venue is nice but bring earplugs, they dont have respect for your hearing.
Staff was nice, food smelled amazing
Recently visited for the second time but I'm afraid there won't be a hat trick for this venue. For starters, seating near the stage is limited to a few benches along the periphery so standing is pretty much required to see the band. Not a big deal if you're young and/or able bodied, neither of which I am. The lack of view is only made worse by the fact that the stage itself sits really low to the floor compared to similar venues, so with everyone crowding the front its all but impossible to see the band. Another complaint was that there seemed to be far too many people attending than there should've been. I'm no fire marshall but the sheer number of people in attendance seemed unsafe, especially as we were continually getting bumped into and tightly packed in by the time the show actually started. The final straw was the cigarette smoke continually wafting in from the open patio entrance. While this isn't necessarily the venues fault it only contributed to an overall negative experience.
I had a great experience working with Ashton Sikes and her team at the iconic Grey Eagle venue to host my album release show. As a community connector, songwriter, and founder of the Asheville Songwriters Association, I understand the power of kindness and good communication. From the initial planning to the day-of implementation, everything was top-notch. Daniel, on sound, was patient and professional as we worked through a 6-person set up. Jen was also great at the bar, which means a lot to the attendees. I would highly recommend The Grey Eagle to any national, regional and local performers. It's a bucket list kind of place that should not be missed.
