this is a bold statement but I gotta say High Test has some of the best sandwiches in Asheville. I've been about 6-7 times and everytime it gets better. Not to mention they have really delicious milkshakes and prices are very reasonable. Definitely don't pass this place up if you find yourself hungry on south slope.

High Test is a tiny little joint with sandwiches that never fail to please. The Cuban is my go to, but everything I've tried is great. I've successful resisted their custom ice cream sandwiches, but every time I go in, they're calling my name. One day, sandwiches, one day.

Great deli selections served up by some very nice folks! Gotta have a Cuban if you are in to that type of thing. We have ordered soups, salads, and many of the sandwiches they pump out fast and furious during lunch rush! Absolutely no room to sit outside but twin leaf is just down the way to help with brews and seating. Do not miss this spot for some solid lunch on the south slope.

We have been to the high test deli in Bryson city and absolutely loved it ... the owner told us how one was opening in Asheville awhile back ... we drove up today from 2 1/2 hours away and the hours online and on the door said Saturday open 4 to 10 pm ... it was closed we waited 30 minutes in the parking lot very disappointed not a good way to handle your business
Highly recommend! I had their NC Ham Melt on sour dough (there are several bread choices) and was delighted with the flavors and portion size. My husband had their version of a Philly Cheesesteak. We both have been to Pat's and Gino's when in Philly and had their tasty 'original' cheesesteaks. The husband though was blown away with this cheesesteak saying it easily was the best cheesesteak he'd ever had! As a special treat, I had a chocolate shake which did not disappoint. Please note that there is not any seating there but the brewery next to it has outdoor seating you may use or, if they are open, take your food inside and enjoy a beer.

High Test Deli catered a farewell brunch for our wedding at the at the Deep Creek Picnic Shelter on Labor Day. They provided quiches, eggs, bacon, juices, coffee, an absolutely AMAZING fruit salad, and more. The food was delicious and the service was even better! Barry and his High Test team took care of all of the setup and take down. We had leftover food and Barry brought to-go bags so we could take some of it home with us after our event. What we couldn't fit into to-go bags, he donated to homeless shelters and first responders. These shops are owned by incredibly caring people and that really comes through in the way they do business. Barry and Ashley were extremely nice to work with and catering this event required very little work on my end which was so appreciated! Thanks High Test Deli for providing excellent food and a friendly atmosphere for our wedding guests!

We have some food allergies in my family. It's a huge pain in the a*** I went in to ask if they could accommodate, and they gladly welcomed us. Their GF sub rolls were amazing. The sandwiches are outstanding, and the service quite good. We took our food to the patio next door, as there is no seating. Also, watch your parking, towing is enforced. Overall, a great little shop.
