If you are out and about in Asheville, I definitely recommend stopping and getting a scoop (or more) at The Hop. The normal flavors (vanilla and chocolate) are just average. But the rotating flavors are exceptional and inventive. They are also made with local ingredients which is a plus. Ice cream is above average, but not quite creamy enough to warrant 5 stars.

Do NOT get the brownie. It’s essentially a cinder block. The kid behind the counter tried to warn me and I grabbed one anyway.DO get the bulldog tracks. It’s perfect. Smooth and creamy vanilla mixed with gorgeous brownie chunks (if they’re the same as the one I fussed about earlier, ice cream turns them gold) and globs of chocolate sauce. It’s exactly the combo I’m in search of when I want ice cream.At $8 a pint it’s on par with what you’re paying at the grocery store for a boutique brand, but local. Support local.

Stopping in for a few scoops was a good choice after dinner! Their prices were reasonable and there was a good amount of vegan flavors for those need it. I appreciated the amount of seating indoors now that it's getting cold out.

My wife and I got married last weekend, and we had our wedding cake made by the Hop. My wife has a long list of dietary restrictions, and the Hop is a favorite spot of ours because of all of the dairy-free options. Ashley, the owner of The Hop, was an absolute pleasure to deal with. After I gave her a checklist of all of the necessary foods to avoid, she created a custom cake that was both delicious and perfectly safe for my wife to enjoy. I’d recommend The Hop to anybody looking for an ice cream cake for a special event!

While you are waiting in the line from 8.35 to 9 pm and see employees literally playing inside and then being told that they have served their last customer is total BS. Your employees are pointing at us who are lined outside instead of scooping and selling food and eliminating that line. horrible service and no more business for HOP!
