The West End Bakery is a hidden gem in Asheville, offering a variety of delicious meals and baked goods. Their breakfast sandwiches are top-notch, especially the fantastic grits bowl. The lunch menu, available from 12-4, has items like the porchetta sandwich that will blow your mind. The bakery is clean and well-maintained. While some pastries like the vanilla cheesecake are amazing, others may fall short. Despite some misses, The West End Bakery is worth a visit for those looking for more than just a basic cafe experience.
The people are the sweetest and most welcoming. The hash, sweets, and milk bread are highly recommended. The coffee, mocha latte, pastry, and breakfast dishes are delicious, especially the thick-sliced milk bread toast with prosciutto and apple jam, the cheddar and chive biscuit with gravy, and the smoked salmon bagels. The pastry choices have improved, offering more variety.
However, one customer was not pleased with their avocado toast, as the avocado was too soft, and the meal was overall very salty. The iced tea was also disappointing, as it was mostly ice and cost $5 with no refills. The customer felt the wait staff was nice, but the overall experience was not satisfactory.
