We came here Memorial Day morning to grab a quick bite as we were leaving Boone for the weekend. From the outside, it's a very charming diner with an old country feel to it.
But the low rating is because of the food and service. The moment we were seated, it didn't take long to get our order; however, it took over 30 minutes to get our order. My hash browns were flavorless burnt potatoes, and my spouse's pancakes tasted like mushy flour and water.
In addition, I asked for ice water three times before I finally got my cup. It seemed our waitress was absent minded and forgot it. To be fair, she was managing several tables and what appeared to be two kids playing in the rain outside, and dragging their damp blankets through the restaurant.
Will not be back.

Amazing diner in the mountains. Their homemade breakfast was some of the best I've had. I recommend the Grandview omelette.

4.5 stars. Stopped in on a trip home from a mountain vacation. It was a Sunday morning, fairly crowded, seemed a little understaffed. Service was a little slow, drink didn't get refilled, but again, it was crowded. Food was absolutely delicious, omelette was absolutely stuffed with meat. Fantastic little spot, well worth the visit.

We stop here every time we come up to Banner Elk. Great home cooking, great service, great prices. We absolutely love this restaurant! (And they treat pups well too - you can sit out back with your dog). Must visit for casual, good food.

We got the grand view omelet and the watauga breakfast. The omelet was stuffed full and was as big as the plate, the cheese was so melty and the hashbrowns were so crispy. The watauga breakfast had a massive country ham. We came in on a whim and were seated right away!
