Great atmosphere, food and drinks - the coffee and lemonade were wonderful!
My husband and I went here today while driving around Banner Elk and it was the best experience! Delicious coffee and pastries, cozy little coffee shop vibe, and a great local feel. I had a white mocha breve and it was one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere and I am a self-proclaimed coffee snob. They even have several delicious sugar free options. We spoke with the owner for a while and the passion he has for this place he and his wife own and operate is just awesome. If you’re ever anywhere nearby and want a great cup of coffee while supporting an awesome local business in a beautiful community, you definitely need to check this place out! Places like this are so hard to find- this one is a true gem!
Stumbled upon Mountain Grounds Coffee & Tea in Banner Elk and wow — this place is everything you want in a mountain town café. Cozy, local vibe and coffee that makes you want to move in permanently. We tried a sugar-free caramel oat milk latte that was so smooth and flavorful, you’d never guess it was sugar-free. Also had a white mocha breve — rich, velvety, just the right amount of sweet. And the ham & cheese croissant? Flaky, buttery perfection. Basically the kind of breakfast that makes you forget your name for a minute. The cherry on top? The owners, Hayden and his wife, are the kind of owners who makes you feel like a regular the second you walk in. Super friendly, clearly passionate about their shop and the community. If you’re anywhere near Banner Elk, this spot is a must. Grab a drink and thank me later.
Great friendly atmosphere; staff are wonderful, warm and helpful. The specialized bags of coffee make great gifts. Great asset to the area. Amazed at all they do for the community.
This is a nice and cozy cafe. The staff were utterly kind and generous. We came to visit from FL and were able to stay warm while we waited for the Grandfather Mountain State Park to open.

Excellent on all counts. Friendly, smiley staff, patrons were polite too. Differing choices of seating - wish the fireplace had been on (I'm sure I could have asked :) ) Very good mocha and an excellent cinnamon bun!

Visited here the morning of 10/15/24 and did an online order for a double shot espresso a mocha latte and a chocolate chip cookie. We were greeted as we came in and asked how our day was going. The staff was very friendly and the premises had lots of comfortable seating. Our order was ready on time and everything tasted great. Looking forward to trying the various local and in house food items. Chow.

A great little coffee shop under the auspices of Grandfather Mountain. The coffee was good. The roast was decent, and they had some artisan coffee drinks I didn't have time to try. The food they seemed to be locally made and was delicious. It was worth a stop as the staff genuinely chatted with you. You can tell the workplace is enjoyable, and it shows through customer service.
Edited review. I gave an additional star for the food being fresh. This brings it to 4 stars overall.

Ice cold Expresso $7, it was supposed to be hot.
Dry, stale, non-gooey cinnamon roll. Bought 5, all the same and $5 each. Would not recommend.
