Rude customer service.. mainly the woman, but both workers weren't pleasant. Working in the service industry myself, I know how important it is to be kind to all and it's really not hard. Not being greeted when walking in or talked to politely when asking questions about the menu, I'll take my business elsewhere. Vibes were blah.. there's far better options on the mountain and we experienced them.

Went by today with by Beagle, considering it's called the Dog House Cafe. Did not go inside due to me having a dog, and was proceeded to be asked by a staff member "are you okay?" I replied "Yes! Just wanted to get some food with my dog, I didn't want to go inside with him!" Which he replied "yes no dogs in establishment" which I figured, hence why I was outside. Then he let me know I'd have to pay inside, and wouldn't bring my card from the table to the inside, which would require me to leave my pup in the truck. Just felt not allowed to even be there, especially when it comes up as "pet friendly" on Google. Went elsewhere and spent my money. Just a strange experience 🤔
Edit 12/10/24. I think that is a hilarious response considering a family inside had to TELL the worker to come outside, where he acted like me and my dog with his BOWLS outside were an issue. I knew he couldn't come in, duh! I was not going to bring him back to the car, just get rid of outdoor seating then! Oh well, keep it up! 🤣

I went here earlier this year (Feb 2024) and got the grandfather sandwich since I saw people recommending it in reviews. It was delicious and if I ever go back to around that area in NC I’ll be sure to stop back by here.

It is a hidden gem. Great view of the scenery and very clean and cozy! I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk it was delicious. The macchiatos are also done correctly and very nice. I highly recommend stopping to try :)

My husband and I live near The Dog House Cafe and wanted so badly to love and support it. We have tried our very best and have given it many chances, but the owners and staff are NOT friendly at all. They almost seem mad to have customers. I doesn't matter if you go in and order in person or call in a to go order they have never been nice and will treat you as an inconvenience.
We are so glad to have other local spots with great food and staff to support!

Great food and easy / quick breakfast spot on a busy Saturday morning at other breakfast location. The people are friendly and helpful. Quick service and good food. No complaints. I highly recommend.
We came here from a Google search b/c I knew my family would like the menu esp the hot dogs! Place was immaculate and food was really good and homemade. Chicken salad was so good and all their sides are delicious too! Would definitely come again when visiting.

Overall I had a good experience here, my few comments are that the staff was not extremely friendly when we entered at all. My other note would be that I’m not sure why they are called the Dog House Cafe when dogs aren’t even allowed to be inside when you eat? Maybe change your name then? Those were my two gripes but the iced mocha I ordered was great and the chicken salad/ Mac and cheese were really good as well.

Order and pay at counter. Credit card screen defaults to a 20% and up "tip". Once you sit down, they tell you your drink is at the counter (get it yourself). Food is brought to the table on paper plates with plastic utensils. You are then instructed to clear your own table and put in trash. Food was ok but what exactly is the tip for?

Took out 2 chicken salad sandwiches on sour dough. One curry. Absolutely chock full of yummy things. Also trapped 2 slices of something chocolate/peanut butter brownie like. All the best ever tasted. Lovely service people.
